School District 96 proudly applauds our Twin Groves and Woodlawn 8th-grade graduates–the KCSD96 Class of 2021. Your experience of 8th grade has been like no other KCSD96 graduate before you!

For each of you, District administrators and faculty wish learning years to come at every age that bring you fun and challenge and satisfying opportunities to contribute. 

The Board of Education and faculty will celebrate you with graduation ceremonies at Woodlawn Middle School, 6362 Gilmer Rd., Long Grove, on Tues., June 1 ( Woodlawn 8th graders) and Wed., June 2 (Twin Groves 8th graders).

• REQUIRED SUMMER READING (All Grades) & OPTIONAL WEEKLY SUMMER LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
To keep learning going all summer, District faculty developed a 10-week summer curriculum with required reading for incoming students in KDG–Grade 8 AND optional math review activities. In addition, optional fun activities in the areas of STEM, music, writing, and more are also designated by week. SEE SUMMER ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES

The SUMMER READING webpage includes Book Lists for optional reading for Early Childhood–Grade 5 as well as the required reading assignment for middle school students entering Grades 6–8. Note that required summer reading for students entering KDG–Grade 5 is found in the SUMMER ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES resource, as described above.

• iPAD EXCHANGE THIS SUMMER 
Action needed! This summer, District 96 will exchange your student’s old iPad, charging cable, charging brick, and iPad case for new equipment. You’ll need to schedule an appointment to make the exchange and the exchange must occur before Aug. 1. READ DETAILS about this process and SCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT

• REFUND OF 8th GRADERS’ POSITIVE LUNCH ACCOUNT BALANCES
Positive lunch account balances for graduating 8th graders will be refunded.

Refund checks will be mailed by District Business Office staff by June 4 to the home address on record.

• SUMMER SCHOOL REGISTRATION OPEN THROUGH JUNE 1 – Registration for Summer Enrichment Classes opened May 10
Although some classes are filled and waitlisted, many still have openings. Opportunities vary by grade level. REGISTER FOR SUMMER ENRICHMENT COURSES

• TRIMESTER 3 STUDENT REPORT CARDS AVAILABLE JUNE 3
Trimester 3 student report cards will be available to view online after 3 PM on Thurs., June 3. SEE INFO for accessing student report cards online.

• SCHOOL SUPPLY LISTS AND KITS for 2021–22
SEE INFO to download grade-level school supply lists or order school supply kits to be delivered directly to your home. (Order by July 9 for home delivery by Aug. 13.)

• FREE MEALS PICK-UP SUMMER SCHEDULE
Please note: Free meals (3-meal bag) will be available for pickup on Wed., June 2, at Woodlawn Middle School only, 11 AM–2 PM.

Beginning the week of June 7, free meals may be picked up on Mondays and Wednesdays, 11 AM–2 PM, at either Twin Groves Middle School, 2600 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., Buffalo Grove, OR Woodlawn Middle School, 6362 Gilmer Rd., Long Grove. 

On Mondays, meal bags for 3 days will be distributed. On Wednesdays, meal bags for 2 days will be distributed.

There is no preordering required. Meals will be distributed while quantities last. At both Twin Groves and Woodlawn, a limited number of vegetarian meals will be available for pickup.

• DISTRICT/BUSINESS OFFICE SUMMER HOURS AND LOCATION CHANGES
District schools and school offices will be closed July 1–July 31.

District Office /Business office staff are available to answer your questions throughout the summer. From June 7–Aug. 6, these offices will be open to the public Monday–Thursday 8 AM–4:30 PM and Friday 7–11 AM. (Note: District offices will be closed July 5 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.) Questions? Call 847.459.4260.

The District Office is located at 1050 Ivy Hall Lane, Buffalo Grove. Due to summer construction, the main entrance will not be accessible and visitors will buzz/enter via the door facing the small adjacent parking lot and Clohesey Drive.
 
NOTE LOCATION CHANGE: The Business Office will be temporarily relocated to Woodlawn Middle School, 6362 Gilmer Rd., Long Grove, due to summer construction. Enter via the Woodlawn Middle School main entrance.
