NEW *Erin's Law Presentation*
An Illinois law known as Erin’s Law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness/prevention curriculum for Kindergarten through Grade 12.
Kildeer Countryside CCSD 96 researched and observed best practices and programs for delivering this instruction, selecting Victor Pacini to present Be Seen & Heard ©.
The focus of this developmentally appropriate and interactive program is to teach children skills to keep them safe from danger or abuse. Concepts discussed will include distinguishing safe from unsafe touches, safety rules at home and school, saying NO, safe/unsafe secrets, and telling a trusted adult, as well as reinforcing that an adult’s touching him or her is not the child’s fault. NEW *Dispensing and Storing Medication at School*
With cold and flu season upon us, please direct your attention below for direct language from our Parent/Student Handbook regarding our policy for dispensing and storing medication at school. Students are not permitted to carry over the counter medication/cough drops or prescription medication with them in the school setting. Please feel free to call and speak with me if you have questions about this policy. Thank you for your attention to this policy.
For the safety of all, medication must be brought to school by the parent or another responsible adult. The medication must be in its correct prescription container, showing the child’s name, the name of the drug, the dosage to be given, and the time of administration.
Medication containers must be stored in the health office and students may consume medicine only in the health office. This includes acetaminophen or any other nonprescription, over-the-counter medication. Orders for medications must be renewed annually at the beginning of each school year. Any medication not picked up by parents at the end of the school year will be destroyed.

REPEATING *Important Action Item for Parents of Current 5th Graders*
Parents of ALL currently enrolled 5th graders whose students will attend in School District 96 in the 2020–2021 school year must prove their residency again by Feb. 14, 2020.
Country Meadows Administrative Assistant Cheryl Kelly will accept proof of residency and provide a required form for your signature.
Please note that the requirement to re-prove residency for a current 5th grader applies–even for families who have other students currently attending KCSD96 schools.

REPEATING *KCSD96 Offers a Dual Language Opportunity*
Parents are invited to consider the Dual Language Program for their incoming Willow Grove kindergartner. The program’s purpose is to give children the opportunity to develop a deep academic proficiency in two languages. Fifty percent of the academic day instruction is delivered in Spanish and 50 percent in English. Following their kindergarten year at Willow Grove, Dual Language participants continue at Country Meadows for Grades 2–5 and transition to Woodlawn for Grades 6–8.
To be included in the public lottery that will be used to select the 2020–21 Dual Language kindergarten class, an Interest Form (ENGLISH or SPANISH) is due to the Willow Grove Early Learning Center office by 3 p.m. on Mar. 18.

NUEVO *Administración y Almacenamiento de los Medicamentos en la Escuela*
Con la época de gripe sobre nosotros, por favor dirija su atención a la información de abajo que proviene de nuestro Manual de Padres/Estudiantes con respecto a nuestra regla para administrar y almacenar medicamentos en la escuela. No se permite que los estudiantes lleven consigo cualquier medicamento sin receta médica/caramelos para la tos o medicina prescrita en la escuela. Si tiene alguna pregunta sobre esta regla, me puede llamar. Gracias por su atención.
Para seguridad de todos, el medicamento tiene que ser llevado a la escuela por un padre de familia o cualquier otro adulto responsable. El medicamento debe estar en el recipiente prescrito correcto, mostrando el nombre del niño, el nombre de la medicina, la dosis, y la hora de administración.
Los recipientes de medicamento deben estar almacenados en la oficina de la enfermera y los estudiantes solo podrán tomar su medicamento en la oficina de la enfermera. Esto incluye acetaminofén o cualquier otra medicina no prescrita. La solicitud de los medicamentos debe ser renovada anualmente al inicio de cada año escolar. Cualquier medicamento que no haya sido recogido por los padres al final del año escolar será destruida.

REITERACIÓN *MEDIDA IMPORTANTE PARA PADRES DE ESTUDIANTES QUE ESTÁN EN 5º GRADO*
Los padres de TODOS los estudiantes que están actualmente inscritos en 5º grado y que asistirán al Distrito Escolar 96 durante el año escolar 2020–2021 deben comprobar su domicilio nuevamente para el 14 de febrero, 2020.
La Asistente de Administración de Country Meadows Cheryl Kelly aceptará el comprobante de domicilio y le dará un formulario que requiere de su firma.
Por favor tome en cuenta que este requisito de volver a comprobar su domicilio para un estudiante que está actualmente en 5º grado aplica aún para las familias que tienen otros estudiantes que asisten a las escuelas del Distrito 96.

REITERACIÓN *KCSD96 Ofrece Una Oportunidad de Lenguaje Dual*
Invitamos a los padres a que consideren el Programa de Lenguaje Dual para los estudiantes que entrarán al kindergarten de Willow Grove. El propósito de este programa es darle la oportunidad a los niños para que desarrollen una capacidad académica profunda en dos idiomas. Cincuenta por ciento de la enseñanza académica se implementará en Español y 50 por ciento en Inglés. Después de kindergarten en Willow Grove, los participantes continuarán en en Programa de Lenguaje Dual en Country Meadows para los grados 2–5 y pasarán a Woodlawn para los grados 6–8.
