Willow Grove Principal's Message ~ November 8, 2024

Dear Families,

What an exciting week we had in our early learning center! This week kindergarten students learned about the voting process with an election to determine if Buddy should order pizza or a hot dog from our cafeteria. A hot dog was the winner!

Last call for our Window to the World volunteer opportunity! We would LOVE your support. We cannot run this evening without our families. Please review the information in the Repeat information below, if you haven't already. Our survey closes on Friday, December 15. A HUGE thank you to parents who have already volunteered to help! NEW *Guiding Coalition of Interculturalism Next Week: Join Us!*

GCI will meet on November 12th at 6:30 pm in the Educational Development Center at Ivy Hall Elementary (1072 Ivy Hall Lane). Please fill out this form if you are interested. In this meeting, we will be discussing many topics, including refining our students' middle school experience by exploring the opportunity for more student choice in curricula. We look forward to seeing you there!

Guiding Coalition of Interculturalism (GCI) is a learning community that reflects and connects the KCSD96 values of diversity and inclusion; aligns parents, educators, and students in cultural and educational experiences; and engages with a wide audience. This year our Bilingual Parent Advisory Council will merge with GCI to create a more cohesive group focused on cultural diversity, inclusion, and language support.

REPEAT: Willow Grove Window to the World - Calling All Families!

On the evening of December 11th at 6 pm, we’ll be having a fun family event, showcasing the many cultures and countries represented in our school community. We are excited to learn from and celebrate each other! We cannot do this without your support and we are looking for parents who would like to share artifacts and traditions from around the country and globe with our students and families.  Parents who are interested can share about holidays, traditions, clothing, games/toys, geographical locations and landmarks, music, art, food, etc.  Children or families may do a short performance (dance, music, fashion shows, etc.). Things families choose to showcase are not limited to places outside of our own country. Families can share about areas right here in the USA and what makes their family unique to help us all learn about one another. We are so excited for this event! We hope that you’ll consider sharing with our school community. We would all love to learn from you! If you would be interested in participating, please click here to complete this survey. THANK YOU!

Note: You can partner up with others! You don’t have to do your booth alone. We will organize groups based on our volunteers and topics and individuals can feel free to work together, if you choose!

Click here to see a video from a previous cultural fair! This will give you a great idea what the event is all about!

Mark your calendars for the evening of December 11th. This will be fun for the whole family!
