Willow Grove Principal's Message ~ October 30, 2020

Willow Grove Principal's Message ~ October 30, 2020

Dear families,

It was so enjoyable to take some time today to celebrate Halloween fun with students, and although different from our typical celebrations, staff and students still found time to enjoy this time together.  Thank you to our PTO for providing a craft that was passed out at our picture day earlier this week!  As we enter the month of November along with the final weeks of our first trimester, we are excited for all of the learning and fun that awaits!

We hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend!  Please see below for upcoming calendar reminders.

Enjoy your weekend!

Fondly,

Jenny Smith, Principal

NEW *Picture Day - Evening Hours or Retakes*

If you weren't able to make our prior picture day, you still have an opportunity!  These can also be used for retakes.

  • Ordering is completely digital - LINK HERE.  You need to order before you come for your child's picture.  Pictures will be shipped directly to your home.
  • On November 30th, children may come to the school for their picture anytime between the hours of 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, escorted into our gymnasium by ONE parent/guardian.  All attendees must wear a mask and watch their socially distanced space.
  • All coming into the building (child and parent) will have their temperature taken and self-certify to enter.  We will do it with you on-site; you don't need to do anything ahead of time.  DO NOT attend if you are experiencing any symptoms or have a temperature of 100.4 or above.
  • Enter our school through the side gym door off of our big parking lot.  We will be monitoring the group size.

If you are unable to attend either of these dates or choose not to have your child attend picture day, we can collect a photo of your child from you if you'd like us to include it in the yearbook.

NEW *Calendar Updates & Daylight Savings Reminder*

As a reminder, there will be no school held on Monday, November 2nd, or Tuesday, November 3rd. Students will return for remote instruction on Wednesday, November 4th.

November 13 - NO SCHOOL for Willow Grove students ONLY

During the week of November 2nd, please know that D96 schools and offices may be operating remotely.

As a friendly reminder, we change our clocks back at 2:00 am on Sunday, November 1st.

NEW *NEWCOMER COFFEE*

Has your family recently moved to the United States or are you and your student(s) new to this area?

On Tuesday, November 17th at 1:00 pm parents that are new to our area and have students at Willow Grove, are invited to a casual conversation.

This is an opportunity for parents to meet some D96 staff, ask questions, share their thoughts, and also to meet parents that may have had similar experiences or have been in the district for a long time.

This is an informal opportunity for parents who–like their students–are experiencing our social customs and practices of teaching and learning for the first time.
