NEW: MEDICATION PICK UP
In keeping with our School Board Policy, any unused medication remaining at the end of the school year must be picked up by parents. This ensures the safety and well being of all children.
The medications from each building have been picked up and brought to the ELC located at the following address:
990 Corporate Woods Parkway Vernon Hills, Illinois 60061
You may pick the medication(s) up on any of the following days between 8-3:
- Tuesday, May 19
- Wednesday, May 20
- Thursday, May 21

NEW: No Instruction/Slideshows on Friday, May 22nd
Looking ahead to next week there will be no new instruction/slideshows sent to students on Friday, May 22nd. The purpose of this day is for students to catch up on any work they have not been able to complete to the best of their ability and submit it to their teachers. Instruction will begin again on Tuesday, May 26th, and the nature of this instruction may include more closure activities and less content-specific activities. This is also a friendly reminder that Monday, May 25th there is no school per our original calendar.
NEW: End of Year Gifts for Staff
Many of you have inquired about delivering/dropping off End-of-Year gifts for staff during Student Material Pick Up next week. Given that staff will not be present during Material Pick Up and we have no way of getting the gifts to staff at this time, we ask that you please refrain from bringing gifts with you to drop off at Material Pick Up. If you feel strongly about thanking the incredible staff that works with your child(ren), please consider a virtual gift that can be delivered to their email or consider waiting until we are back in session. Thank you for your understanding!

NEW: WILLOW GROVE STUDENT MATERIALS PICK UP
We hope this communication finds you well. Our D96 staff has worked to ensure student materials have been located and organized for an effective student material pick up experience.
Elementary (including all Willow Grove) Student Material Pick-Up will take place:
- Wednesday, May 20th from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm
- Thursday, May 21st from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm
- Friday, May 22nd from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm
If you will NOT be picking up your child’s materials and would prefer for student materials/personal belongings to be donated, please complete THIS GOOGLE FORM. By completing this form, you are indicating that you are aware that all student personal belongings/supplies/materials will be donated and will not be available for pick up in the future.
As always, our top priority continues to be the health and safety of our D96 staff and community. Please read the following details closely to ensure that all health and social distancing guidelines are adhered to.
DIRECTIONS: **PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY**
- Sign up for one 15 minute slot using THIS WILLOW GROVE SIGN-UP GENIUS LINK. If you have multiple children in various grade levels or classrooms, you will pick up all of their materials at one time, so only choose ONE SLOT.
- At your scheduled time, please pull into the main Willow Grove parking lot. You will see signage/staff leading the way.
- If your child has school library books or textbooks in his/her possession, please bring them with you and slip them through your window into the clearly labeled drop off bin.
- Hold up a sheet of paper in the car window with your last name and grade level (EC or Kindergarten) printed in large, bold print.
- A staff member will place the appropriate student material bag(s) next to your vehicle.
- PLEASE DO NOT EXIT YOUR VEHICLE WHILE STAFF IS PRESENT. Do not open your window to talk to staff or loiter in the parking lot/school vicinity. It is our duty to keep all staff and families as safe as possible in this exchange. Once you have collected your materials, promptly leave the school grounds.
To keep the student pick up process manageable, we will NOT be sending student materials home with other families. We are also unable to distribute medication, for which you need to follow the instructions indicated previously in this message. Thank you for your understanding.
If you will not be returning to District 96 (not Willow Grove, but District 96 altogether) in the fall, we will have a separate date/time for technology collection. The purpose of this 15-minute slot is to return student materials to families and library books to the school.
NEW: Food Donations during Student Materials Pick-up
During student materials pick-up next week, we will also have a box to donate food items for families in need. There will be no coolers available at the school, so please make sure you only bring items that do not need to be refrigerated. If you have refrigerated items, those need to go directly to the ELC. Please review Superintendent Schmidt’s recent message to view the needed items!
NEW: PTO Update
There are updates in the current PTO Blog this week. Please find more info on REFUND REQUESTS for cancelled events and programs, including unfulfilled dessert days and Pizza Bingo unfulfilled auction prizes. ALL REQUESTS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY JUNE 1st, 2020. Also, there are details for School Supply kits for next year.
NEW: Student iPads
Due to both our expanded virtual options for June and our intention to share suggestions and resources for continued learning with families over the summer, ALL RETURNING DISTRICT 96 STUDENTS WILL KEEP THEIR IPADS DURING THE SUMMER. We are pleased to be able to offer families and our students ongoing access to this resource. Please remind students to continue to take care of these iPads. They will need them in the fall!
REPEATING: Don't Wait! Register for the 2020–21 School Year
If you haven't already registered your new or returning District 96 student for the 2020–21 school year, please do so right away. Having an accurate enrollment count is important for anticipating staffing needs appropriately. Please tell new neighbors and friends to contact the public info coordinator [email protected] with registration questions and for info on options to delay/waive registration fees.

NUEVO: No hay Lecciones/Diapositivas el viernes, 22 de mayo
El viernes, 22 de mayo será un día para que los estudiantes se pongan al corriente con cualquier trabajo que no hayan completado aún y para que sea entregado a la maestra. Seguiremos con la enseñanza el martes, 26 de mayo, la cual incluirá más actividades de fin de ciclo escolar. También les quiero recordar que el lunes, 25 de mayo no hay clases según lo indica nuestro calendario escolar.
NUEVO: Regalos de Fin de Año Escolar Para el Personal
Muchos de ustedes han preguntado cómo se pueden entregar/ enviar regalos de Fin de Año Escolar para el personal durante el Día que se Recogen los Materiales de los Estudiantes de la próxima semana. Dado que el personal no estará presente durante este día y no tenemos cómo entregar los regalos al personal por el momento, pedimos que no lleven regalos durante el día de Recoger los Materiales. Considere una tarjeta de regalo virtual o espere a que regresemos a clases si usted desea mostrar su agradecimiento hacia los maestros de su(s) hijo(s). ¡Gracias por su comprensión!

Si usted NO va a recoger los materiales/pertenencias personales de su hijo y prefiere que sean donados, por favor complete este Formulario Google. Al completar este formulario, usted está indicando que está informado de que todos los materiales/pertenencias personales/útiles de su estudiante serán donados y no estarán disponibles para recoger en un futuro.

Un miembro del personal colocará la bolsa de materiales de su estudiante al lado de su vehículo.
POR FAVOR NO SALGA DE SU VEHÍCULO MIENTRAS EL PERSONAL ESTÁ PRESENTE. No abra la ventana de su carro para hablar con el personal ni permanezca en el estacionamiento/alrededores de la escuela. Nuestro deber es mantener al personal y a las familias lo más seguras posible durante este intercambio. En cuanto haya recogido sus materiales, retírese de inmediato de las instalaciones de la escuela.
Para poder controlar este proceso, NO enviaremos materiales de los estudiantes con otras familias. Tampoco podemos entregar medicamentos, para ello debe seguir las instrucciones que se indican en este mensaje. Gracias por su comprensión.
Si usted no va a regresar al Distrito 96 (no a Willow Grove, pero al Distrito 96 en general) en el otoño, tendremos un día/horario separado para recoger cualquier equipo tecnológico. El propósito de estos 15 minutos es para regresar los materiales de los estudiantes a las familias y para que las familias regresen cualquier libro de la biblioteca o de la clase a la escuela.
NUEVO: Actualización de PTO
Hay actualizaciones en el Blog del PTO de esta semana. Por favor encuentre más información sobre SOLICITUDES DE REEMBOLSO por eventos y programas cancelados, incluyendo día del postre y premios del Bingo Pizza incumplidos. TODAS LAS SOLICITUDES DEBEN SER SOMETIDAS PARA EL 1° DE JUNIO, 2020. Además, hay información sobre los Útiles Escolares para el próximo año escolar.
NUEVO: iPads de los Estudiantes
Debido a nuestras opciones virtuales ampliadas para junio y nuestra intención de compartir sugerencias y recursos para un aprendizaje continuo con las familias durante el verano, TODOS LOS ESTUDIANTES QUE REGRESAN AL DISTRITO 96 MANTENDRÁN SUS iPads DURANTE EL VERANO. Nos complace poder ofrecer a las familias y a nuestros estudiantes un acceso continuo a este recurso. Por favor recuérdele a su estudiante que debe seguir cuidando de estos iPads. ¡Lo van a necesitar en el otoño!
REITERACIÓN: ¡No espere más! Inscriba a su estudiante para el Año Escolar 2020–21
Si aún no ha inscrito a su estudiante para el año escolar 2020–21, por favor hágalo de inmediato. Es importante que tengamos un total exacto de los estudiantes inscritos para anticipar las necesidades del personal de forma adecuada. Por favor dígale a los vecinos nuevos y a los amigos que se comuniquen con la coordinadora de información pública [email protected] si tienen preguntas de inscripción y para información sobre las opciones para atrasar/ eximir la cuota de inscripción.
