Kildeer PTO Blog, Dec. 6, 2019

A BIG THANK YOU...

We have so many thanks to give out in this month's blog post. We want to be sure to thank everyone who donated to our Teachersgiving hospitality meal last week (see pictures). We received so many generous donations from many of you that we were able to provide our educators with an amazing spread that they all greatly appreciated! So, Thank You!

Finally, a big Thank You to all who donated winter coats and apparel to the Kildeer Coat Drive last month. We were able to make a hefty donation to children and community at Little Fort Elemetary in Waukegan. No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.... so, THANK YOU!

KILDEER'S ANNUAL TOY DRIVE IS GOING STRONG!

Toys for Tots red train logo

In partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps, Kildeer's annual Toy Drive to support Toys for Tots is in full swing! Bring in new unwrapped toys for less fortunate children by Dec. 11. Collection boxes are located in the main hallway. So many of our families have already donated, which really warms the heart and helps our students realize the importance of giving this holiday season. Please help make the holiday season brighter for those in need and donate today! Thank you!

SPECIAL LUNCH IS NEXT FRIDAY, DEC. 13

Papa John's Pizza Restaurant red and green logo

We're bringing in Papa John's for our Special Lunch on Fri., Dec. 13! Your child will be served 2 slices of cheese pizza. This is just a friendly reminder for those who have ordered. Our January Special Lunch is earlier in the month, so mark your calendars for Fri., Jan. 10, when we will be bringing in Original Bagel & Bialy.

OUR ROOM PARENTS ARE FINALIZING CLASS GIFTS!

If you plan to contribute to the class gift for this holiday season for your child's teacher, please send your money as soon as possible. Our Room Parents are working hard coming up with ideas and gifts for our teachers and it is easier for them if they have all the donations in earlier, rather than later. The suggested donation is $20, but you can send in to the Room Parent any amount in a check via your student's backpack.

THE WINTER PARTY IS FRI., DEC. 20

The word Party decorated with stick figure children, balloons, and confetti

Our classroom Winter Parties are fast approaching and we want to send a friendly reminder that if you are volunteering and plan to bring your child home with you after the party, you still need to send a note stating this to the Kildeer Office no later than the morning of the party (12/20). Students can meet their parent in the small gym.

Aditionally, if you are bringing treats, note that treats must be dropped off to the school office no later than 11 AM on Thursday morning (12/19) to be checked by our school nurse. All snacks for the class parties must come in ORIGINAL packaging, or the snack will not be served due to safety concerns. Please select only from snacks included on the District APPROVED SNACK LIST. Goodie bags are NOT allowed. We appreciate your support in keeping our students safe.

BINGO BLAST OR TRIVIA NIGHT?
SOME CHANGES AHEAD TO THE ANNUAL KILDEER FAMILY FUNDRAISING NIGHT FEB. 21

That's right–it's time to mark your calendars for our annual Bingo Blast event on Feb. 21.

Due to the lack of volunteers to coordinate this iconic school event, we have decided to make some changes. We are completely eliminating the silent auction gift basket table, as we understand it is quite a burden to assemble and solicit donations for those elaborate baskets.

We will still have the "Teacher Experience" items, along with a few more popular events. We also will still have the classroom basket raffle items. We are also considering changing Bingo to Trivia to generate more excitement for the event. This is definitely not a final decision, so keep an eye out for more information on our social media pages.

Did you know Bingo Blast is our biggest fundraiser? Bingo Blast pays for our Cultural Arts assemblies, which cost over $4000 each year, as well as author visits, which can total over $1000 a year. Not only do we use the money raised from Bingo Blast on some fantastic events for our children, the kids LOVE it! However, in order for this event to be successful, we are looking for volunteers to help with various tasks of the event. If you are interested (or willing) to help with any of these specific tasks listed below, please contact Marlene Aaron or Rebecca Bacci.

  • Pizza coordinator – work with pizza vendor to pre-order pizza prior to the event
  • Ice cream coordinator – work with Culver's to pre-order ice cream prior to the event
  • Volunteer coordinator – Schedule volunteers (from a list we provide) throughout the evening and coordinate High School volunteers
  • Ticket pre-order coordinator – Organize the pre-orders and have envelopes ready the evening of the event
  • Raffle basket coordinator – Plan and organize the grade-level raffle baskets
  • Teacher Experience Silent Auction coordinator
