The School Year is in Full Swing!!
We hope the school year is off to a good start for everyone. We wanted to thank each person/family that contributed to the Hospitality Committee’s Welcome Back Lunch for our teachers and staff. They truly appreciated the lunch we catered in from McAlister’s and we love doing this for them. If you missed the opportunity to contribute or volunteer, look for another post on our Facebook page in November, as we provide dinner for our educators during the Fall Family/Educator conferences.
We invite all of you to check out our online database KILDEER PTO MEMBERSHIP TOOLKIT! If you are a first-year parent or have new students attending Kildeer, make sure you take time this week to register or update your family information on Membership Toolkit. The Kildeer PTO uses Membership Toolkit for all sign-ups and order forms, so it is vital for you to register on this website.

The PTO is bringing in Culvers for our first Special Lunch of the year! Your child had a choice of a Hamburger, Grilled Chicken Wrap, Grilled Cheese, or a Pot Roast Sandwich. (Cafeteria options will be available for children who did not order Special Lunch.)
Box Tops Collection Begins Sept. 16!
It's that time again! Help the PTO earn funds to purchase supplies for our school by sending in your Box Tops! Box Tops can be found on many household products, including General Mills, Ziploc, Annie's, and much more! Classrooms will have collection envelopes available beginning Monday, Sept. 16.
The deadline for our fall collection is Fri., October 18, but please continue to send in your Box Tops throughout the year! Any Box Tops submitted after the deadline can be used for our spring collection! Questions? Contact Eugenia Hahn, Nikki Ziomek, or Amy Feygin.
The Cougar Challenge is Wed., Sept. 18!
The Cougar Challenge is a whole-school fun run coordinated by our wonderful gym teachers. The PTO will be providing bananas for the students after the run. The event is Wed., Sept. 18. Please be sure to send your children to school with a water bottle and gym shoes!
Pizza and Ice Cream Social – Sept. 25, 5:30–8:00 PM
It is almost time for one of our favorite events of the year - the Pizza and Ice Cream Social on Wed., Sept. 25, from 5:30–8 p.m! This is a fun night and a great way to connect as a school community. The Book Fair will also be open in the small gym. This year we will be serving authentic Italian Gelato!
**We are offering a Gluten Free Pizza option, but this option will be available only to those who pre-order.
**We are also offering a Dairy Free dessert option to make this night more inclusive for all our families.
Remember, to avoid the long lines pre-order your Papa John’s Pizza, Gelato, and drinks for your family on the Kildeer PTO MEMBERSHIP TOOLKIT! All pre-orders must be placed by Wed., Sept. 18.
Fall Book Fair is Mon., Sept. 23–26!
Our annual Scholastic Fall Book Fair is coming up this month. The Book Fair will run from Mon., Sept. 23, through Thurs., Sept. 26. Each class will have set times on Monday and Tuesday to preview books and make their wish list, as well as purchase times on Wednesday and Thursday. The Book Fair will also be open during the Ice Cream and Pizza Social on Wed., Sept. 25! Be sure to stop by and see our amazing selection of books!

Dessert Days have started…
Dessert Day is off to a great start! Every Thursday during lunch in the cafeteria we offer an assortment of frozen treats to Dessert Day Card Holders. Your one-time purchase will enable your child to enjoy the dessert of his/her choice every Thursday for the entire year! 2019/2020 Committee Chair Positions Open

Interested in meeting other parents, being involved in your child's school, or even being part of his or her day? Consider chairing a PTO committee for the 2019–20 school year. There are many different opportunities available. CLICK HERE to explore opportunities available for Committee Chairperson positions. We are asking ALL—both RETURNING chairs and NEW chairs—to go to MEMBERSHIP TOOLKIT - CLICK HERE to sign up. Login to your family account and you will find the sign-up on the home screen.
We are still in need of chairs for our Cultural Arts Committee! The Cultural Arts Committee not only gets to see the performances (which are normally closed to parents), they get to work with Mrs. Kieser to help choose which shows our students get to see. There is a special Cultural Arts Showcase in the fall that the committee attends, so there's no need to try to find ideas on your own!
We also need chairs for our Bingo Blast Committee. Organize the family BINGO event, including silent auction, raffles, and food sales. Coordinate the collection of the items for the raffle and BINGO prizes. Organize committees that will be responsible for volunteers, prizes, decorations, set-up, advertisement etc.
Event Date/Time: Fri., Feb. 21, 2020, 5:30–7:30 p.m.
Another great committee in need of chairs is the Community Giveback Committee. Coordinate the Fall Toy and Coat Drives to benefit communities within the surrounding area. Work with Mrs. Norman and Toys for Tots for the Toy collection. This is a low time commitment committee which benefits those less fortunate than many of us. Events take place at the end of October through early December.
We are still in need of chairs for Evening Story Time. Coordinate the evening with our Principal. Pick out a story and readers for the event. Publicize and invite all Kildeer 1st graders and Willow Grove Kindergartners who will be attending Kildeer School the following fall. The event date is Thurs., Apr. 23, 2020, 6:30 p.m.
Please feel free to share this information with any friends/parents you think might be interested in chairing a committee, including families of 1st graders. We would love to have as many families as possible involved in the wonderful activities we plan for the students at Kildeer. We thank you for your continued support of the Kildeer PTO. Membership Toolkit Instructions – Sign Up Today!!
The PTO uses an online database system called Membership Toolkit to organize our school activities. This system will better assist us in conducting business, organizing our volunteers, and streamlining our communications to you. Plus, parents can pay for events by credit card and easily view what they have purchased!
Let’s get started!
1. Click HERE to access our Kildeer PTO Membership Toolkit webpage. If you have already created an account to order school supplies last year, your account is still valid – just log in! If you are new to Membership Toolkit, you will need to create an account using your personal email address.
2. Update your Family Information from the link on the homepage. Validate your family contact information and update your student(s) current grade in school. If you have a student who is now at Woodlawn or another school, click the box to indicate they are no longer a student.
3. Sign up!
o PTO Chairperson Sign Up – we are still in need of Chairpersons for Bingo Blast, Cultural Arts, and more! Sign up today!
o PTO Committee Volunteer Opportunities – Get involved in the Kildeer community by volunteering for one of our awesome committees! There are a ton of ways to support Kildeer – sign up today!
o PTO Dues – If you did not pay PTO dues during school registration last spring, you can pay via Membership Toolkit.

o Pizza and Ice Cream Social – Join Us for the 2019 Pizza and Ice Cream Social on Wednesday Sept. 25th from 5:30-8:30 pm at Kildeer. Pre-order your pizza, gelato, and beverage and skip the lines!
o Dessert Day Cards and Birthday Celebrations – Sign up for a Dessert Day card to get a treat every Thursday. Celebrate your child’s birthday by buying ice cream for the class. Make sure to list their teacher and birthday – we will work to get everybody a birthday celebration date as close to their actual birthday or half-
o Classroom Parent Volunteers - Volunteer in your child's classroom throughout the year. Opportunities include Room Parent, Cougar Press parent (new this year!) and Volunteering at classroom parties.
• Please note that classroom parent volunteer opportunities are limited. If the response for volunteers is greater than the need, we will use a lottery system to choose volunteers and will attempt to include as many families as possible. Sign up for all you are interested in to increase your opportunity to be involved! Volunteers will be notified by email in September.
4. Checkout! Once you have made your selections, click the “Proceed to Checkout” button at the bottom of the screen. Payment is made through PayPal and accepts all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). Sorry, no checks or cash are accepted for pre-pay events.
