Kildeer PTO Blog, May 17, 2019

Mark your calendars and grab your chairs and blankets. Thurs., May 23, from 6–8 p.m. is our Annual Kildeer Family Picnic! This is our last PTO event of the year and it’s always a blast! This is a rain-or-shine event. Each meal is $12 and comes with a bag of chips and a bottle of water. Please note: If you didn’t pre-order, food is NOT GUARANTEED, however, we’ll still have balloon artist, face painting, a DJ, and more!! Don’t miss out on the fun!!

SCHOOL SUPPLY KITS for the 2019–2020 School Year

We are pleased to announce that we are again offering the convenient services of back-to-school supply kits through EPI, Inc., for the 2019–2020 school year! Order a supply kit for your child and pick up the kit at Meet-the-Teacher Day at Kildeer in August. You can make your purchase by logging into the Kildeer PTO MEMBERSHIP TOOLKIT dashboard.  **Make Sure to Update Parent and Student Information, ensuring the “Current Grade” for each student is the grade they are in for the 2019–2020 school year. Note: School Supply Kit Orders will not present correctly if this information is not updated. The PTO will accept orders through Friday, May 31, 2019. Once the sale closes, you will NOT have another opportunity to purchase a supply kit. These school supplies will be used during the 2019–2020 (next) school year, so skip the lines and hassle at the store and purchase your kit next week!

You can order your current 5th grader’s school supply kits for 6th grade using Woodlawn's PTO MEMBERSHIP TOOLKIT.
Please log in with your existing username and password. Click on “Family Information” at the Home screen. Verify (or add) your Parent Information and then click “Next Step” to ADD your current 5th grader as a student. Please select his or her grade as 5th grade. Once you save your student information, you will see the School Supply Kit form for your 5th grader under your Home screen on the Woodlawn Membership toolkit and you can proceed with an order. You can pick up your 6th-grade school supply kit at Woodlawn during Locker Set-Up in August.

Interested in meeting other parents, being involved in your child's school, or even being part of his or her day?  Consider chairing a PTO committee for the 2019–2020 school year. There are many different opportunities available. CLICK HERE to explore opportunities available for Committee Chairperson positions. If you have questions or may be interested in a committee please feel free to contact Marlene Aaron or Kim Connolly. Thank you for considering volunteering your time and your talents to the Kildeer PTO. We could not offer these programs for our students and the school without your support!

We are asking ALL—both RETURNING chairs and NEW chairs—to go to MEMBERSHIP TOOLKIT  to sign up. Log in to your family account and you will find the sign up on the home screen.

We are still in need of chairs for our Class Pictures Committee. Coordinate volunteers to assist photographers for school pictures on Picture Day in September. This is great opportunity to be sure your child is photo ready for his or her school picture!

We are still in need of chairs for our Cultural Arts Committee! The Cultural Arts Committee not only gets to see the performances (which are normally closed to parents), they get to work with Mrs. Kieser to help choose which shows our students get to see. There is a special Cultural Arts Showcase in the fall that the committee attends, so there's no need to try to find ideas on your own!

We are still in need of chairs for our Bulletin Board Committee. This is a great committee to be a part of because you can come in on your own time when it fits best in your schedule. The team is responsible for decorating the board throughout the year based on upcoming PTO events. We have the majority of the supplies and designs from last year that you can reuse, or feel free to come up with your own!

Another great committee looking for chairs is the Community Giveback Committee. Coordinate the Fall Toy and Coat Drives to benefit communities within the surrounding area. Work with Mrs. Norman and Toys for Tots for the Toy collection. This is a low time commitment committee which benefits those less fortunate than many of us. Event dates take place at the end of October through early December.

We also need chairs for our Bingo Blast Committee. Organize the family BINGO event, including silent auction, raffles and food sales. Coordinate the collection of the items for the raffle and BINGO prizes. Organize committees responsible for volunteers, prizes, decorations, setup, advertisement etc. Event Date: A Friday evening in February.

Please feel free to share this information with any friends/parents you think might be interested in chairing a committee next year, including families with incoming 1st graders. We would love to have as many families as possible involved in the wonderful activities we plan for the students at Kildeer. We thank you for your continued support of the Kildeer PTO. Looking forward to having you join us next year!
