Mrs. Cumpata's Cosmic Communication - 12.8.23

Good Afternoon Kildeer Families,

This past week, students worked hard to complete their Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Test in both subject areas of literacy and math. Our entire staff is proud of the efforts our students put forth during the testing and we know that each student is showing growth in a variety of areas as the school year continues to unfold.

As a reminder, please ensure that your child is adequately prepared for the winter weather with appropriate clothing to go outside for recess.

Have a WONDERful weekend!

Mrs. Karen Cumpata

Upcoming Dates:

  • Tuesday, December 19 - Early Release Day

  • Tuesday, December 19 - Newcomer Coffee & Conversation, 7 p.m. (Ivy Hall Elementary School)

NEW *I Am Me…We Are Kildeer Exciting Opportunity*

We are exactly two months away from the big event! I Am Me… We Are Kildeer will be held on Thursday, February 8th from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. right here at Kildeer. We need your help to make this year’s event the best one yet!

We are looking for families that want to do any of the following:

  • Share a food from your culture

  • Prepare an interactive booth about your traditions

  • Perform a song, dance, or other act that showcases your heritage

  • Attend the evening as a family to learn about everything that makes us a Kildeer Community

Please FILL OUT THIS FORM to express your interest in participating and/or attending.

Calling all Creative Cougars! Brand new for this year, we are introducing an I Am Me… We Are Kildeer artistic competition, where students will have the chance to submit a design that could be used in a number of places including on the cover of the night’s program! Check your child’s backpack today for more information.

Our 6th annual Kildeer community event, I Am Me… We Are Kildeer, is a unique celebration of all the cultures and families that make up Kildeer. You can expect to taste foods from around the world, witness scintillating performances, and learn about Kildeer family cultures and traditions. As if that weren’t enough, Mr. Tatar will be leading our 3rd and 4th graders in amazing musical performances - you won’t want to miss it!

We look forward to sharing this spectacular night with you!

NEW *MAP Assessment Update*

This is a follow up to the message sent on Wednesday, 12/6, concerning the technology issues that impacted the administration of Kindergarten/First Grade NWEA MAP testing for some students. We are rescheduling that MAP assessment for those students who did not finish. The retest day is Tuesday, 12/12. Students who completed the assessment for will not test on that day.

REPEAT *Recess During the Winter*

For students to play in the snow, they must have snow pants, boots, gloves, and a jacket.  This applies to both the field and the playground area. This ensures that their clothes, hands, and feet are dry for lunch and the remainder of the afternoon.  Students who do not have snow pants and boots can still play on the blacktop area.

REPEAT *Newcomer Coffee and Conversation*

District 96 hosts a Newcomer Coffee & Conversation for parents and guardians of newly registered students, to give them an opportunity to ask questions and share information about their transition.

This year’s Coffee starts at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, at Ivy Hall Elementary School (Mat Room), 1072 Ivy Hall Lane, Buffalo Grove.

It is an informal opportunity for these new parents and guardians to ask questions and share their thoughts ~ with other parents and staff ~ about their experiences in the district. These parents might be experiencing the District’s social customs and teaching practices for the first time, just as their students have, and can glean from the experiences of others.

New parents/guardians who missed the New Family Tours in August are encouraged to attend this conversation.  Those who did attend the tours are welcome to join this conversation to share how they are adjusting to the District 96 culture.

Coffee and other refreshments will be served.

For planning purposes, RSVP by December 13 at https://forms.gle/Kn5SkyzZFbHgtyCn7.

This is an event only for parents and guardians.  Coffee and other refreshments will be served.
