Good Afternoon Kildeer Families,
What an incredible week it has been! Mr. Higgins and I had the WONDER Wagon out during lunch this week. It was great to interact with students and praise them for their positive behavior. Our 2nd graders also demonstrated their knowledge of buying and selling products during their Entrepreneur Day. I was able to purchase a one-of-a-kind bookmark and colorful bracelet.
Next week, we'll have a fantastic opportunity to come together during the Family Educator Conferences. It's a chance to connect, discuss, and collaborate to ensure our students continue to thrive.

NEW *Law Enforcement Safety Drill*
On October 3, 2023, Kildeer will be conducting a Law Enforcement Safety Drill. Students may be evacuating the building during the drill. In compliance with the Safety Drill Act, parents have the right to exempt their child from the Law Enforcement Drill. If you do not wish your child to participate in the Law Enforcement Safety Drill, please contact Mrs. Cumpata at [email protected]. The administration will arrange for an alternative review of safety procedures with your child. If we do not hear from you, we will assume your child has permission to participate in the drill.
REPEAT *Halloween Costumes*
Our Halloween festivities will be here before we know it. We look forward to students dressing in their Halloween costumes for our Halloween Parade and classroom parties on Tuesday, Oct. 31st. Please help us with the following costume guidelines. Students will change into their costumes after their lunch period at school. Please ensure that your child can get the costume on with no or minimal help.
Costumes must be appropriate for school. If costumes are not school-appropriate the student will be asked to remove their costume.

REPEAT *Fall Family/Educator Conferences*
Fall Family/Educator Conferences are right around the corner. The conference dates are Thursday, October 5th from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM and Friday, October 6th from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
We will be using Meet the Teacher as an electronic sign up for conferences. A School Messenger email will be sent to families on Thursday, September 21st at 6:00AM with a link to sign up for conferences.
Conferences will be held virtually using Meet the Teacher’s video conferencing platform unless parents request an in-person conference using the instructions bolded at the end of this message. After you have scheduled your conferences, you will receive an email from Meet the Teacher with a link you will use to access the video conferences.
Elementary parents will have the option to sign up with the classroom teacher as well as select specials teachers and any related service providers their children see.
Middle school parents will have the option to sign up with one core content teacher (see below) and pertinent exploratory/PE teachers. Please note: Students on the A Day schedule will have their Spanish teachers available during this round of conferences. Students on the B Day schedule will have this opportunity in the spring.

If you are unable to schedule a conference with a specific teacher, please remember that conferences are not the only time to communicate with teachers. Please feel free to reach out any time.
REQUESTING AN IN-PERSON CONFERENCE:
If you want to have an in-person conference with the teachers, you must notify the teachers via email by the end of the day on Tuesday, October 3rd.
