Mrs. Cumpata's Weekly Message - 1.13.23

Good Afternoon Kildeer Families,

Welcome back and Happy New Year!  It was so nice to welcome students and staff back this week. We are excited to have another PAWSitive PAW Party on Wednesday.  Students will have the opportunity for some extra time in the gym playing a grade level favorite activity.  Thank you to our lunch volunteers who helped with Special Lunch today.  We appreciate your help. As a reminder, there is no school on Monday.

EnJOY your weekend!

Mrs. Karen Cumpata

NEW *Recess Reminders*

For students to play in the snow, they must have snow pants, boots, gloves and jacket.  This applies to both the field and the playground area. This ensures that their clothes, hands and feet are dry for lunch and the remainder of the afternoon.  Students who do not have snow pants and boots can still play on the blacktop area.

This week, all students participated in a Kahoot that reminded them of school behavior expectations. One part of the day we are focusing on is recess.  We want all students to enjoy recess while being safe.  It is very important for all students to keep hands and feet to self, including when playing games like basketball, football, and/or soccer. Mr. Higgins and I have reviewed all behavior expectations for recess.

REPEAT *ACCESS Testing*

The State of Illinois requires identified English Learner (EL) students to annually participate in the ACCESS testing to determine current English language proficiency in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Our ACCESS testing window will occur from 1/17-2/22. Each school’s testing schedule is unique and will only impact students who take the ACCESS test. Students taking ACCESS do not need to prepare anything ahead of time.

REPEAT *Girls on the Run*

Calling all girls in Grades 3-5! The Girls on the Run Program will be starting soon! Program registration will open January 5. Please register directly with Girls on the Run using this link.  We are so excited to be able to accept 20 girls this season!  Practices will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:30pm beginning mid-March.  It is very important that your daughter can attend all practices in order to participate in this wonderful opportunity!

Sincerely, your Girls on the Run coaches this year: Mrs. Fuss, Ms. Sadowski, and Mrs. Shvartsman
