Mrs. Cumpata's Weekly Message - 11.4.22

Good Afternoon Kildeer Families,

Our classrooms celebrated this Monday with a parade and class party!  Thank you to our party planning parents and PTO volunteers for making this a Halloween to remember.

As the sugar wore off, it was back to learning for our scholars.  1st graders had fun celebrating the 50th day of school, 2nd graders are working hard preparing for their Entrepreneur Day, 3rd graders are enjoying all the parents that are volunteering to come read to the class or lead a culturally-based activity, 4th graders are using information they are learning in social studies and applying it in a real world setting like the school cafeteria, and 5th graders just finished reading A Road to Freedom and enjoyed learning how the narrator’s point of view affects how the story is told.

As a reminder, there is no school on Tuesday.

EnJOY your weekend!

Mrs. Karen Cumpata

REPEAT *Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) Score Reports*

Last year, students in third to eighth grade were eligible to take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). Individual score reports will be mailed out next week for any students who took the assessment.

If you have questions about your child’s IAR report, direct them to his or her teacher; your school principal; or Jason Keenon, Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning, at [email protected].

REPEAT *Lost & Found*

We will soon be donating items that are in our lost & found. If your child is missing something, please encourage them to look in the lost & found for it.  We are happy to return items to students that are labeled so please label your child’s items.

REPEAT *FAMILY READING NIGHT*

Mark your calendars!

Our annual Family Reading Night takes place on Thursday, November 17 from 6:30-7:30pm. Our goal is to provide families with a fun night out where you can experience two different rounds of literacy-related activities (i.e. flashlight reading, reading for two voices, arts and crafts activity) in partnership with Student Council. While walk-ins are welcome, please consider using THIS Google Form to RSVP if you would like to attend, as it will help us plan the evening activities. We look forward to seeing you at the event!

REPEAT *Student Sense of Belonging Survey*

In District 96, we believe that feedback from students regarding their perception of the school climate and teacher-student relationships provides valuable input about their sense of belonging. Our school district is committed to providing our students with every opportunity to succeed. Substantial research indicates that supporting students’ social-emotional development improves their readiness to learn, positive classroom engagement, and overall academic performance. As a result, District 96 will administer a student belonging survey to all students EC-8. These surveys are below for your review. A physical copy will be available from the district office upon request.
