Mrs. Cumpata's Weekly Message - 10.21.22

Good Afternoon Kildeer Families,

We had a wonderful week at Kildeer!  Mornings have been a bit chilly but by lunch and recess students are outside enjoying the fall weather. The weather is continuously changing this time of year so please make sure your child is dressed appropriately and prepared to go outside for recess. As a reminder, Tuesday is an Early Release Day.  Students will be dismissed at 2:05pm.

Mr. Higgins and I are looking forward to visiting each 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade classroom next week.  We will be focusing on Rule 5 of The Energy Bus: Enjoy the Ride! We will be “enjoying the ride” by reading them a few of our favorite read alouds and incorporating sound effects to make the story more interesting and interactive.  On Friday, all students will be visiting their Buddy Classroom.  The focus will be on Fueling others with Positive Energy.  Each buddy pair will create a positive card and as a school we will be delivering these cards to Mr. Emde and others within our community that need some positive thoughts sent their way.

Thanks for your continued support and partnership.

EnJOY your weekend!

Mrs. Karen Cumpata

NEW *Halloween Festivities on Monday, October 31*

  • The Halloween Parade will begin at 1:30pm.  Students and staff will start together in the large gym. Parents are not allowed in the building during the parade.

  • After the students parade around in the large gym, students will exit out the gym door and walk on the sidewalk in front of the school.

  • Parents can enjoy the parade from the parking lot.  Feel free to get out of your car and stand on the blacktop areas near the sidewalk.  We encourage you to wave and take pictures of your child during this time. Please remain off the sidewalk while students are parading in front of the building.  As a school, we want to make sure all students/ grade levels stay together during the parade.

  • Once students have walked around the front of the school, they will come back inside the building for their class party.  Only Halloween party volunteers will be allowed in the building after the parade. If you are a parent volunteer for the Halloween party, you must enter through the front door and sign in as usual.  If you have questions about being a party volunteer, please reach out to our PTO.

  • If the weather does not cooperate and we are unable to have the Halloween parade outside, we will email parents before 1:00pm.

NEW *FAMILY READING NIGHT*

Mark your calendars!

Our annual Family Reading Night takes place on Thursday, November 17 from 6:30-7:30pm. Our goal is to provide families with a fun night out where you can experience two different rounds of literacy-related activities (i.e. flashlight reading, reading for two voices, arts and crafts activity) in partnership with Student Council. While walk-ins are welcome, please consider using THIS Google Form to RSVP if you would like to attend, as it will help us plan the evening activities. We look forward to seeing you at the event!

REPEAT *Upcoming Dates in October*

  • Tuesday, 10/25 ~ Early Release

  • Monday, 10/31 ~ Halloween Parade and Parties

REPEAT *Halloween Costumes*

Our Halloween festivities will be here before we know it.  We look forward to students dressing in their Halloween costumes for our Halloween Parade and classroom parties on Monday Oct. 31st.  Please help us with the following costume guidelines.  Students will change into their costumes after their lunch period at school.  Please ensure that your child can get the costume on with no or minimal help.

Costumes must be appropriate for school.  If costumes are not school appropriate the student will be asked to remove their costume.

  • Please no masks, blood, super scary stuff, general ickiness, or weapons

  • Please no cigars or cigarette items

  • Please no bare tummies

  • Please keep hair coloring and make-up simple

REPEAT *Cooler Weather is Upon Us*

The leaves are providing us a beautiful backdrop during recess.  Please make sure that your child has the appropriate clothes as the temperature drops.  Dressing in layers is always a good idea.  Please label your child’s items so that if they find their way to the Lost and Found, the item can be returned to your child.

REPEAT *Picture Retake Day*

Picture retake day is November 16.
