Kildeer Principal's Message- May 22nd

student materials day

Dear Kildeer Families,

Over the past three days we've handed back most of our students' belongings from the classroom and lockers. I'm really thrilled at how smoothly the process went. Admittedly, I didn't sleep very well the night before anticipating the process. It would not have been possible without our volunteers and each of YOU helping to follow the instructions.

Our PTO spent hours passing out sweatshirts to 5th-graders and yearbooks to any students that purchased them! Our support staff hauled load after load of bags in and out of the building. Our custodians helped to get us ready each day and continue to keep our school safe and clean during the interior construction.

Thank you for the friendly smiles. Thank you for the kind words. Thank you for all of the support along the way. We didn't head into this school year anticipating such a year of change, but I continue to learn about this incredibly supportive community and just how much we are there for each other during the toughest of times!

Student iPads

Due to both our expanded virtual options for June and our intention to share suggestions and resources for continued learning with families over the summer, ALL RETURNING DISTRICT 96 STUDENTS WILL KEEP THEIR IPADS DURING THE SUMMER. We are pleased to be able to offer families and our students ongoing access to this resource. Please remind kids to continue to take care of these iPads. They will need them in the fall!

REPEATING: Don't Wait! Register for the 2020–21 School Year

If you haven't already registered your new or returning District 96 student for the 2020–21 school year, please do so right away. Having an accurate enrollment count is important for anticipating staffing needs appropriately. Please tell new neighbors and friends to contact the public info coordinator [email protected] with registration questions and for info on options to delay/waive registration fees.

I hope the "catch-up" day went well. I think adults could use one of those, too! Am I right? Luckily we have a 3-day weekend ahead and I hope your family enjoys the quality time.

I'm super excited about our BUDDY CLASSROOMS on Tuesday! You should have received information from your child's classroom teacher. Our Cougar Pride Committee has been working really hard to keep our connections going and promote what we are all about: community!

Also, on our last day of school (Friday, May 29th), we will have our final COUGAR PRIDE ASSEMBLY. It's virtual, of course, but there has been a ton of time and effort going into making it amazing. Thanks to the committee and a special shout-out to Mrs. Gruenwald and Mrs. Brandt for putting it all together!

Next week marks our last week of remote learning. I have to say, keeping up with morning announcements and these blogs have been therapeutic in nature for me. I've enjoyed the connections they bring and seeing all of the different contributors. Thank you to everyone for making them special, whether you are a committed viewer, sent along a video, or passed along words of encouragement. Happy Friday, indeed!

Fondly,

Mrs. Vail Kieser
