Kildeer Principal's Message- May 8th

staff appreciation

Dear Kildeer Families,

This week was absolutely incredible. I was amazed by all of the stories, emails, videos, and gestures of appreciation towards our Kildeer staff. This has been a challenging time for us all, so please know how much your positive energy has meant to each and every staff member!

If you didn't catch it this morning in our announcements, our student council made a sweet video for our teachers. They even noticed an error today and redid it! Check out the latest and greatest version HERE!

Attention 5th Grade Parents - Woodlawn Parent Tour & Coffee

The Woodlawn PTO is sponsoring a virtual New Parent Tour and Coffee on May 15th at 1:00pm.

This is open to any parent with an incoming 6th grader and anyone new to Woodlawn!

Take an afternoon coffee break and watch a virtual tour of the Woodlawn building conducted by Principal, Mr. Grana and Assistant Principal, Mrs. Garlick.

There will be a Q&A opportunity with a panel of Woodlawn parents to learn more about Woodlawn, ask questions about the middle school experience and learn how you can get involved at Woodlawn in the upcoming school year.

Please see this informational flyer for Zoom meeting information and details!

Guidance for Parents Supporting Their Children’s Remote Learning

Our faculty and administrators continue to look for ways to support District families during this challenging time, including cultivating a happy parent-child working relationship. As many of us are also working from home with our own children, we recognize that when children listen and follow directions, there are better learning outcomes and less frustration for the entire family. We believe you’ll find this article helpful and broadly applicable, as it offers specific steps you can take as a parent to earn instructional control and respond to your child’s behavioral challenges: Seven Steps to Successful Parenting Through Behavioral Challenges, written by ELC Behavior Analyst Alexa Halbert, based on Robert Schramm’s work, MA BCBA.

Buffalo Grove Police Department Coloring Challenge

BGPD would love to receive a virtual wave via a coloring challenge from your child!  This is something fun to do if your child would be interested.  CLICK HERE for the BGPD Coloring Challenge!

Don't Wait! Register for the 2020–21 School Year

If you haven't already registered your new or returning District 96 student for the 2020–21 school year, please do so right away. Having an accurate enrollment count is important for anticipating staffing needs appropriately. Please tell new neighbors and friends to contact the public info coordinator [email protected] with registration questions and for info on options to delay/waive registration fees.

Making and Keeping Stay-At-Home Memories

School Resource Officers Ashley Krozel and Mike Martin from the Village of Buffalo Grove Police Department have provided a COVID-19 TIME CAPSULE–a fun activity to help students and their parents capture and preserve the details of staying safe at home together during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.

The partnership with our PTO is extremely important at Kildeer. Please take a moment each week to review the information to learn how you can get involved, support Kildeer, and dates to mark your calendar!

Catch up on very important information from our PTO!

This week was not only about staff appreciation, but also our PTO appreciation. One of our Kildeer traditions is to provide a volunteer breakfast during staff appreciation week. Since we couldn't do this in person, our staff surprised the PTO at Wednesday morning's meeting. Teachers held up breakfast items in the background and some even had virtual buffet backgrounds. It was a great opportunity, and the least we could do, to thank the incredible volunteers that make Kildeer a better place!

I'd like to end with a beautiful tribute from our PTO. You'll see a lot of familiar and sweet student faces thanking our staff!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead. Moms and caretakers, thinking of you! Enjoy your day!
