Kildeer Prinicipal's Message-December 6th

Kildeer Prinicipal's Message-December 6th

Dear Kildeer Families,

We are truly back in the swing of things after a restful Thanksgiving break. In just two short blogs, we will be sailing off into the sunset of winter break. In the meantime, it feels so great to have our office staff complete again. I want to thank all of the families that have stopped in to make Ms. Hagen (administrative assistant), Ms. Wright (clerical aide), and Ms. Cotshott (school nurse) feel welcome. We could not have been more fortunate to recruit this incredible team. I look forward to the remainder of the year with each of these fabulous ladies!

Change can sometimes bring confusion. For example, Mrs. Fineman used to sing on Wednesdays for Show 5. I'm not sure everyone has that same level of show choir experience up their sleeve. On a whim, thanks to my 5th-grade friends that volunteered, ah-hem, were "volun-told" to sing! We are all in this together, right?! They totally nailed it!

Toys for Tots Donation Opportunity – through Dec. 4
We are accepting toy donations at Kildeer through Wed., Dec. 4. This collection is organized by our Kildeer Student Council and Art Teacher Mrs. Norman and benefits Toys for Tots, sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

Donated toys must be packaged and NEW. (Please do not gift wrap them.) Toys appropriate for infants through age 14–including games and stuffed animals–are requested. No need to purchase required batteries, as Toys for Tots will do so.

This Kildeer caring-for-community collection is a long-standing tradition. In fact, our school has been the largest donator in Lake County! Your donation is a much-appreciated treat for children in families experiencing financial hardship. Please find the collection box in the hallway by the small gym entrance.

Sharing feels good!
Our Student Council organized a collection of Halloween candy, donated by our generous Kildeer students. Food pantry staff were happy to receive our donations locally. Kildeer kids also shared their sweets with troops overseas. In all, our school collected and donated over 22 full boxes of candy! Thank you!

Well, folks, we finally did it:

My family bought matching holiday pajamas! (At least 3 out of 4 of us are pumped!)

I have to say that my kids are at a great age and everything about this time is magical. Below is a family picture that I wanted to share for two reasons. First, did you know I am mastering the art of the self-timer on my phone? This seems to be the only way to get all four of us in the same picture. I just learned that you can use your apple watch to take the photo instead of awkwardly running back to sit down in between the timer. Now that's a fun tip! Anyway, I digress. The second reason I share this photo with you is to share my "whole world". My family is my everything and they make me a better person on a daily basis. This is the perspective I bring to Kildeer each day and something I keep at the forefront of our minds to take such great care of your "whole world", too!

Something about this time of year just helps me to try to be more fully present and capture the small moments. NOT captured in this picture are my children screaming at the top of their lungs, debating if they are on the nice or naughty list, and the explosion of flour in the kitchen from sugar cookies. Perhaps we will save that picture or story for another day.

Enjoy your weekend ahead with those you love most!

Fondly,

Mrs. Vail Kieser
Principal
