Kildeer Principal's Message- November 22nd

PE Blue Ribbon Ceremony

Dear Kildeer Families,

Thank you to all that had the opportunity to join our school yesterday for Family Reading Night. We had almost 100 attendees, so I'd call that a huge success! It's a busy time of year and we value having you join us to celebrate reading! Ms. Jones, thank you for coordinating the wonderful and engaging opportunities. I also want to thank our staff that dedicated time to read and participate! We simply couldn't do it without you.

This was the first Family Reading Night that I've missed because I was in St. Charles with our fabulous P.E. teachers, Mr. Emde and Ms. Groessl, to cheer them on while accepting the Blue Ribbon Award! Ms. Almdale, current P.E. teacher at Country Meadows, also joined us. These three educators go above and beyond and truly deserve this recognition. Words cannot describe what a celebratory evening it was and I felt honored to be there with our team. We are fortunate to have such a rigorous program that prioritizes physical fitness on a daily basis!

In other news, it is a pleasure to officially welcome two new members to our Kildeer Family in the front office! Allison Cotshott, also known as Nurse Allie, will be staying on as our official school nurse. Additionally, Tracey Wright, a former Ivy Hall and Twin Groves parent, will join us in the front office. If you have plan changes for the end of the day, feel free to call the front office or email directly: [email protected].

Next time you are at Kildeer, please feel free to say hello and welcome our two great additions to our school! We are so glad that you are here.

Student Council News

Toys for Tots Donation Opportunity – through Dec. 4
We are accepting toy donations at Kildeer through Wed., Dec. 4. This collection is organized by our Kildeer Student Council and Art Teacher Mrs. Norman and benefits Toys for Tots, sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

Donated toys must be packaged and NEW. (Please do not gift wrap them.) Toys appropriate for infants through age 14–including games and stuffed animals–are requested. No need to purchase required batteries, as Toys for Tots will do so.

This Kildeer caring-for-community collection is a long-standing tradition. In fact, our school has been the largest donator in Lake County! Your donation is a much-appreciated treat for children in families experiencing financial hardship. Please find the collection box in the hallway by the small gym entrance.

Sharing feels good!
Our Student Council organized a collection of Halloween candy, donated by our generous Kildeer students. Food pantry staff were happy to receive our donations locally. Kildeer kids also shared their sweets with troops overseas. In all, our school collected and donated over 22 full boxes of candy! Thank you!

In this role, I am constantly growing and reflecting. I am a firm believer in understanding various perspectives and taking the time to be thoughtful about decisions made. I value student, staff, and parent voices to help shape who we are as a school. I owe a big shout-out to my 5th-grade friends that took the time to discuss the variety show with Mr.Higgins and me. I was beyond impressed with the way they presented themselves and the perspective offered. I must say, the girls certainly did their homework and tugged at my heartstrings at the same time!

My takeaways are the continued importance of listening to each other, validating points of view, and sometimes coming to a compromise!

After all that turkey next week, you might be ready for a change of pace. Mark your calendars for Noodles on Tuesday, December 3rd. Did you know if you dine there and mention our PTO fundraiser that we get 25% back to our school? That is unheard of! I hope to see you there!

Have the best time at conferences next week and please enjoy the holiday with your families. I cannot wait for extra snuggles with my little ones.

Fondly,

Mrs. Vail Kieser
Principal
