Kildeer Principal's Message-November 8th

author visit

Dear Kildeer Families,

Happy Friday! We were so fortunate today to welcome our author, Yangsook Choi, to our school. She was able to story tell and share her passion with our 1st and 2nd-grade students. It's not every day you get to meet a real author and I love how it opened up the possibilities for students to foster a love for reading, writing, and illustrating. Check out this amazing lion she drew in about two minutes!

Author Visit - Photo #1

The visit, of course, would not be possible without the support of our PTO. Thank you for making this happen. Also, we greatly appreciate all of the coordination efforts from Ms. Jones in the learning center. Go team!

Gratitude

I feel like this part deserves its own little spot. I have a great deal of gratitude for our parents at Kildeer. I am constantly seeing parents in the building whether it's to read to a class, volunteer at a party, serve food at special lunch, take photographs for the yearbook, coordinate movie nights, attend meetings with teachers, etc. We are very fortunate to have our partnership together and I just wanted to make sure to shout-out to YOU! As I mentioned in previous blogs, there are many things I learn on the job that I didn't get in "Principal School". However, that's pretty much the same for the "Parenting School". We are all in this together and being present at our school for your kids goes a long way!

And finally, number one, with 294 Box Tops, is Ms. April’s class!

Nice job to all of these classes and everyone who donated! But, still, keep donating Box Tops. Our second and final contest of the year spans from now until February! Box Tops can be found on anything from cereal boxes to Ziploc bag containers.

Parent Drop-Off

Just a friendly reminder that our drop-off line in the morning is a rolling drop. We ask that parents do not get out of their cars to help with the flow of the line. If you'd prefer to walk your child to the door, please know that the front row of parking spots in the north lot is reserved for our parents to have direct access to a sidewalk. We appreciate your support with this1

Family Reading Night

Family Reading Night is Thursday, November 21st from 6:30-7:40pm. Families will be able to enjoy quality time reading with your child right here at Kildeer! Mrs. Smith from the Vernon Area Public Library will also be at school to share information about their library programs. In addition, we will have teachers reading aloud with fun activities to go along with each book! Our theme is It's Showtime at Your Library.

Please keep in mind that children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.  There will be two sessions. Your family will decide which stations to attend.  Once a choice is made, we ask that you remain with your child inside the classroom for the entire session.  We look forward to seeing you there for this community event to celebrate READING!

Do you know what brings me joy more than anything in this role? It's working with your children and getting the opportunity to see them grow as leaners, friends, and overall good citizens. I had the pleasure of another picnic this week they had me laughing, attempting some new dance moves, and learning new jokes.

When we slow down and become fully present, it's amazing the simple things that can bring joy. With that, I want to thank you as always for the pleasure of working with your children and give a special shout-out to our 5th-graders.

You see, I've seen this group grow-up since they were first graders. Yes, this is only my 4th year here, but I distinctly remember my first time coming over in the Spring of their 1st grade year to meet them at an assembly. I remember looking out into the sea of students, full of anticipation for the following year to come. This group of 5th-graders has a very special place in my heart and I look forward to seeing where they go next this school year!

Enjoy the weekend ahead!

Fondly,

Mrs. Vail Kieser
Principal
