Kildeer Principal's Message-October 25th

Kildeer Principal's Message-October 25th

Dear Kildeer Families,

One of my favorite traditions officially began again this week. I had the pleasure of dining with Ms. Wlodek's 5th-grade class at the "Picnic with the Principal". Throughout the year, I enjoy lunch with each class. It's an opportunity for me to give the students my undivided attention, build relationships, and have some fun. I need to give a special shout-out to Ms. Wlodek's class for not only being first but also being such an amazing group. They certainly made my heart smile this week! I look forward to the next ones coming up!

Our Halloween parade and parties are right around the corner. Be sure to check out my previous blogs to double-check our costume expectations.

In the meantime, please check out the reminders about the parade below:

On October 31st, all students will have the opportunity to participate in a parade outdoors (dependent upon the weather) as well as the classroom party. Please see some reminders below:

  • The parade may be viewed by families outdoors. If it rains, it will be indoors for students and staff only.
  • The Halloween party is by invitation only from the PTO. At this point, you should know if you are a volunteer (if so, please no extra siblings)!

Reminder for treats during Halloween Parties:

They must be here by Wednesday morning (10/30), no later than 11:00 to be checked by our nurse. All snacks for the class parties should come in the ORIGINAL packaging or it will not be allowed in due to safety concerns. Please utilize only snacks from the APPROVED SNACK LIST.  Goodie bags are not allowed.  We appreciate your support in keeping our students safe!

Family Reading Night

Family Reading Night is Thursday, November 21st from 6:30-7:40pm. Families will be able to enjoy quality time reading with your child right here at Kildeer! Mrs. Smith from the Vernon Area Public Library will also be at school to share information about their library programs. In addition, we will have teachers reading aloud with fun activities to go along with each book! Our theme is It's Showtime at Your Library.

Please keep in mind that children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.  There will be two sessions. Your family will decide which stations to attend.  Once a choice is made, we ask that you remain with your child inside the classroom for the entire session.  We look forward to seeing you there for this community event to celebrate READING!

I wanted to highlight something really cute happening in our library this week. Ms. Jones and Ms. Harding put together a "Starbooks" experience for all of our students. They were able to check out new additions of books and spend time to get excited about reading. Be sure to ask your child about it this weekend and see if you can spend some time as a family with a book, too!

Lastly, I want to again express appreciation for this amazing community. Our staff has felt the love and support with the recent changes at Kildeer. Please always know I'm only a phone call or email away if you ever need anything.

Take some time this weekend to enjoy your family. I will be doing the same!

Warm Regards,

Mrs. Vail Kieser
Principal
