Kildeer Principal's Message-August 9th

Kildeer Principal's Message-August 9th

Dear Kildeer Families,

The energy at Kildeer is very contagious! Throughout the week, I've had the opportunity to welcome some amazing new additions to our Kildeer staff. Additionally, I've seen many of our returning staff members in classrooms to unpack and get ready for the new year. This is a time that brings a lot of excitement and anticipation for the year to come.

As you head into the weekend ahead, remember that the possibilities for this school year are endless. We have many new families and students to welcome to Kildeer and I look forward to our community coming together to make it the best transition possible. With a new class, also brings new friendships. I know that our staff is dedicated to ensuring that each student has the best experience ahead!

Thank you for your partnership during the 19-20 school year. I see GREAT things in the months to come!

I want to give a special shout-out to any families that have a 5th-grader this year and it will be your last year with us at Kildeer. We hope to make it a memorable school year and make the most of our time together with your child!

Approved Snacks: What Parents Need to Know

The District has revised the APPROVED SNACK LIST, adding more items to this list to give families more choices. The items the list includes are free of the Top 8 allergens: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy, and wheat.

This list includes the foods that are approved for students' Daily Snacks. It also includes (for children in Grades 1–5) foods approved for Special Events such as birthday treats for a class or for PTO Halloween, Winter, or Valentine's Day parties.

IMPORTANT: All items for Daily Snacks–with the exception of fruits and vegetables–MUST be prepackaged to allow staff to easily check that snacks meet the approved requirements.

Director of Educational Services Amy Gluck also has provided responses to FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs) about foods approved for daily snacks/special events.

For your convenience, find links to the District 96 Approved Snack List and Approved Snack List FAQs on the homepage of the District 96 website and the homepage of each school.

As we kick off the school year, please make note of a few important items below:

Meet Your Teacher Day and PTO Fair ~ Students are welcome to visit their classrooms, meet their teachers, and drop-off school supplies from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13th.  Please keep in mind this is not an individual conference time, as many individuals will be meeting the teacher within the hour timeframe.  If you ordered school supplies from the PTO, they will be in the classroom. Please visit the PTO in the small gym from 8:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m. and get signed up for membership toolkit if you have not already!

New Family Meeting ~ If your family is new to Kildeer, we welcome you and look forward to getting to know your family!  Please meet Mr. Higgins and me in the learning center from 8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13th (just prior to Meet Your Teacher Day). This is a great opportunity to find out more about Kildeer!
IMPORTANT: Office Closed immediately following Meet the Teacher on 8/13  from 9:45-12:30. Thank you for your understanding so that we are able to have our entire faculty together to celebrate the start of a new school! We will reopen at 12:30!

Curriculum Night ~ Curriculum Night is scheduled for Wednesday, August 21st. This is a “parents only” meeting, and I hope you can attend. Please come directly to the large gym for a brief presentation followed by classroom visits.

                             Grades 3, 4 and 5 @  7:00 p.m.
Times overlap for grade levels on curriculum night with the intention that you only need to hear/see the principal portion one time. We start as a large group in the big gym space and after a few messages from us,  you’ll go to your children’s classrooms. Conference sign-ups will not be a part of this evening as we will use an online sign-up process again this year!

School Hours ~
•   Arrival time is between 8:10 a.m. and 8:20 a.m.
•   The tardy bell rings at 8:25 a.m. Parents/adults must accompany tardy students into the office and sign them in if you arrive after 8:25 a.m.  Do not drop your child off at any door since all doors are locked and secured at this time. Please be aware that while we try to keep clocks on time, they can sometimes run a minute or two fast. If there are no adults outside, please walk your child into the front office.
•   Dismissal: 3:00 p.m.
•   Regular Day:  8:25 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
