Kildeer Principal's Message- January 11th

Kildeer Principal's Message- January 11th

Kildeer Families,

Happy 2019! I hope that the first week back for you and your children has been a great one. It brings me so much joy to see the students return, share their winter break highlights, and even kick off the new year with a buddy activity. This week students were able to share their personal goals for 2019 and enjoy reading with our buddy classrooms.

Over the break, I had a lot of time to reflect and reenergize for the fabulous year ahead. I continue to celebrate our exemplary designation from the state which shows the amount of dedication we have from our staff, students, and community. Thank you for being such an integral part of this journey. We could not do it without you!

Let's see what 2019 has in store for even more celebrations and growth ahead!

For Parents: Sexual Assault and Abuse Awareness/Prevention Curriculum Preview Opportunity
An Illinois law known as Erin’s Law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness/prevention curriculum for Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Kildeer Countryside CCSD 96 researched and observed best practices and programs for delivering this instruction, selecting Victor Pacini to present Be Seen & Heard ©.

The focus of this developmentally appropriate and interactive program is to teach children skills to keep them safe from danger or abuse. Concepts discussed will include distinguishing safe from unsafe touches, safety rules at home and school, saying NO, safe/unsafe secrets, and telling a trusted adult, as well as reinforcing that an adult’s touching him or her is not the child’s fault.

Parents who would like to preview the information he will present to KCSD96 elementary students may attend a program with Mr. Pacini at 5:30 p.m. on Thurs., Feb. 7, in the Mat Room at Ivy Hall School, 1072 Ivy Hall Lane, Buffalo Grove.

The age-appropriate presentation to Kildeer students will be during the school day on Thurs., Feb. 14.

If you prefer that your child does not attend this prevention education session, please submit your written request - or your questions - to me at [email protected].

I want to leave you with a funny story. After long breaks, we tend to hear students refer to us as "mom" or "dad". They usually smile and correct themselves. This week we had a new one to add to the list. We had a student call a teacher "Alexa"!

Have a great weekend ahead!

Warm Regards,

Mrs. Vail Kieser
