Kildeer Principal's Message- November 16th

Kildeer Families,

I've said it before and I'll continue to say it: I am PROUD to be the Kildeer Principal. We have very exciting news to share with you that is on behalf of our amazing students, dedicated staff, and the partnership with your family! Please see the news below:

Beginning in 2018, each Illinois school is receiving a Summative Designation, a measure of progress in academic performance and student success.

Four Designations:

  • Exemplary – Schools performing in the top 10 percent of schools statewide with no underperforming student groups.

  • Commendable – A school that has no underperforming student groups, a graduation rate greater than 67 percent, and whose performance is not in the top 10 percent of schools statewide.

  • Underperforming – A school in which one or more student groups is performing at or below the level of the “all students” group in the lowest performing 5 percent of schools.

  • Lowest Performing – A school that is in the lowest-performing 5 percent of schools in Illinois and any high school with a graduation rate of 67 percent or less.

Kildeer Elementary School has earned an EXEMPLARY DESIGNATION for the 2017-2018 school year.

Congratulations Kildeer Cougars! YOU earned this! Please congratulate your child this weekend and thank them for all their hard work. I also want to congratulate our amazing staff for continuing to go above and beyond for students! During this season, I am very thankful to work in such a supportive community where we focus on what is best for our kids!

Parent Drop-Off & Pick-Up

Parents who need to enter the school during the hours of 8:10-8:25 or 3:00-3:15 should please park in the North West parking lot in order to avoid walking through traffic during the busiest times of the school day. This is a safety measure in place to ensure an efficient flow of traffic while also keeping students and adults safe. During other hours of the day, it is certainly appropriate to park in the lot directly in front of the school and utilize the crosswalk.

By parking in the North West lot area during the hours of 8:10-8:25 and 3:00-3:15, you can access the sidewalk without having to move across, in front, or behind cars that are in the drop-off line.

Thank you for understanding and supporting our school for safety!

Thank you to our fabulous PTO for another great cultural arts event this week!

  • Students not only learned about Thomas Edison and his inventions but they were able to experience it. They got to act out how a light bulb and a circuit works. Students learned Thomas Edison’s thought process and how inventions worked through songs and audience participation.

To close out our blog today, I'd like to thank all of our families that attended Family Reading Night yesterday. I always feel a sense of pride to welcome our students and thank our staff for the extra time to connect our families with a love of literacy. It's also very special to bring my own children and enjoy the time together as well!

We look forward to seeing you next week at conferences and continuing our celebrations with your child's growth thus far!

Warm Regards,

Mrs. Vail Kieser
