Kildeer Principal's Message- November 9th

Kildeer Principal's Message- November 9th

Hello Kildeer Families!

We ended the week on a great note. Our entire staff and all of our amazing students joined to celebrate the end of the first trimester at the Cougar Pride Assembly. (Check out the link for some photos: COUGAR PRIDE ASSEMBLY) The feeling in the room was full of energy and positivity. We sang, we asked for some audience participation, and we talked about our goal moving forward with really digging into the concept of "empathy". I was also honored to receive a beautiful portrait by a 5th-grade student. She drew this for Principal Appreciation.

Drew this for Principal

If you know Greg Grana, Principal at Woodlawn Middle School, then you know he's pretty entertaining. I received a call from him the other day when he saw this portrait. Do you know what he said? "Mrs. Kieser, I have to say there is a lot of buzz around here about this portrait of you. I mean, come on, this student totally 'nailed it' with your hair!"

We are leaving trimester one with a sense of accomplishment and feeling really proud of our students and staff! Thank you for your continued partnership with our school. We look forward to a fabulous trimester 2!

Family Reading Night

Family Reading Night is Thursday, November 15th from 6:30-7:45. Families will be able to enjoy quality time reading with your child right here at Kildeer! Mrs. Smith from the Vernon Area Public Library will also be at school to share information about their library programs. In addition, we will have teachers reading aloud with fun activities to go along with each book! Our theme is Reading Takes You Everywhere.

Please keep in mind that children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.  There will be two sessions. Your family will decide which stations to attend.  Once a choice is made, we ask that you remain with your child inside the classroom for the entire session.  We look forward to seeing you there for this community event to celebrate READING!

To close out our assembly, I wanted to take a moment to make sure we recognized someone else in the room. I shared with the students that we have recognized me as the principal a lot lately, but there are others that deserve it even more!

"Take a look around the room at every single adult in the room. We are lucky with the best staff around and that they are working so very hard to help YOU be successful. Can we please say 'thank you'?"

We proceeded to cheer and clap wildly in support of our fabulous staff. I'm not sure how many principals get to stand up in front of nearly 600 people to say, "I just might have the best job in the whole world because of each and every person in this room!"

As staff exited the gym, they got a high-five, fist-bump, or even a hug, from me! I handed them a rose, looked them in the eye, and thanked them for all that they do! (I might have gotten a little into it like "The Bachelorette" if you ever have watched that. Mrs. Fineman, do you accept this rose?")

We have really great things happening at Kildeer and I continue to be extremely proud of our school's adventure!

I'll leave you with a little video of how our trimester began when we came together for I AM ME...WE ARE KILDEER. Please enjoy a trip down memory lane.

I hope any families that have recently celebrated El Día de los Muertos or are currently celebrating Diwali are enjoying the family time together. If you ever have something that your family celebrates and would like to share with us, please feel free to send me an email! We'd love to feature the different celebrations in our blog. Happy Veteran's Day on Monday!

Have a lovely weekend and we hope to see your family at Family Reading Night this week! Let's continue to learn from and about each other!

Warm Regards,

Mrs. Vail Kieser
