Students in a circle group activity, holding red drumsticks

Hello Kildeer Families!

I loved the time I spent this week in classrooms, collaborating with teams, and working together with staff and parents to see our I AM ME...WE ARE KILDEER night come to life. We have a lot of really great things going on so far this school year.

Speaking of our I AM ME...WE ARE KILDEER family celebration.....

LAST CALL to sign-up by Wednesday, September 5th! Click here

Here are some of the things we have signed up so far:

  • Bollywood dance, Chinese song, Irish dance, Mexican culture, Indian foods, food allergies, Russian foods, etc.

Here are other ideas if you are still wondering how to participate:

  • Families in public service, American culture, special needs, family structures, twins/multiples, teaching words/phrases in your language, bring in a video of a talent or skill to show, etc.

NOTE: If you run a booth, please know that your family does not need to stay by it for the full two hours. We are just hoping to have many different representations from families and learn from and about each other!

NOTE: You don't have to be an expert to run a booth. We want to learn about your experience and what makes up your family!

CREATIVE WRITING AND BOOK CLUB (Grades 3-5)

Let’s get together and have some fun reading and writing! Does your student love being a creative writer? Writing poetry or fun stories?  Does your student love reading and talking about books with others? Then Creative Writing and Book Club (CWBC) is for them!

CWBC will be designed to create opportunities for students to write creatively in different ways, and interact with their favorite books. Children will also incorporate technology, writing and be exposed to different genres of books, poetry and shared readings.

When children meet with friends to share their love of reading and writing, literacy is turned a social activity that encourages them to keep reading and writing! All Great Leaders are Readers and Writers!

This club is offered to 3rd – 5th graders and will meet in the LIBRARY on WEDNESDAYS from the end of the school day until 4:00 p.m. and will be facilitated by Mrs. Gruenwald and Dr. Barksdale.

Earlier this week I had two students knock on my door to ask me about a bus issue. We talked it trhough and came up with a plan. As they walked out of my office, I overheard them say, "Well, that was easier than I thought!" I love the relationships I'm able to form with these amazing children!

Wishing you a lovely weekend ahead with your families! We will see students return on Tuesday, September 4th!

Warm Regards,

Principal Vail Kieser
