Kildeer Principal's Message- August 10th

Kildeer Principal's Message- August 10th

Hello Kildeer Families!

I have to admit, this particular Friday feels very exciting because the next time we come to school, it will be to welcome back all of our certified and support staff! The beginning of the year is a very special time because we are eagerly awaiting those precious little faces to walk through our doors.

Earlier this week, I was able to be a part of the Newcomer evening for all families that are new to our district. Mrs. Bird, the Country Meadows Principal, and I facilitated a small group to share information and answer those burning questions. I am very pleased to welcome some amazing new families and students to our school this year!

Meet Your Teacher Day and PTO Fair ~ Students are welcome to visit their classrooms, meet their teachers, and drop-off school supplies from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14th.  Please keep in mind this is not an individual conference time, as many individuals will be meeting the teacher within the hour timeframe. If you ordered school supplies from the PTO, they will be in the classroom. Please visit the PTO in the small gym from 8:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m. and get signed up for membership toolkit if you have not already!

New Family Meeting ~ If your family is new to Kildeer, we welcome you and look forward to getting to know your family!  Please meet me in the learning center from 8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14th (just prior to Meet Your Teacher Day). This is a great opportunity to find out more about Kildeer!

IMPORTANT: Office Closed immediately following Meet the Teacher on 8/14  from 9:45-12:30. Thank you for your understanding so that we are able to have our entire faculty together to celebrate the start of a new school! We will reopen at 12:30!

Curriculum Night ~ Curriculum Night is scheduled for Wednesday, August 22nd. This is a “parents only” meeting, and I hope you can attend. Please come directly to the large gym for a brief presentation followed by classroom visits.

                            Grades 1-2 @ 6:30p.m.

                            Grades 3, 4 and 5 @ 7:00 p.m.

Times overlap for grade levels on curriculum night with the intention that you only need to hear/see the principal portion one time. We start as a large group in the big gym space and after a few messages from us,  you’ll go to your children’s classrooms. Conference sign-ups will not be a part of this evening as we will use an online sign-up process again this year!

Approved Snacks: What Parents Need to Know

The District has revised the APPROVED SNACK LIST, adding more items to this list to give families more choices. The items the list includes are free of the Top 8 allergens: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy, and wheat.

This list includes the foods that are approved for students' Daily Snacks. It also includes (for children in Grades 1–5) foods approved for Special Events such as birthday treats for a class or for PTO Halloween, Winter, or Valentine's Day parties.

IMPORTANT: All items for Daily Snacks, with the exception of fruits and vegetables, MUST be prepackaged to allow staff to easily check that snacks meet the approved requirements.

Director of Educational Services Amy Gluck also has provided responses to FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs) about foods approved for daily snacks/special events.

For your convenience, find links to the District 96 Approved Snack List and Approved Snack List FAQs on the homepage of the District 96 website and the homepage of each school.
