Kildeer Principal's Message-February 2nd

Principal reading to students

Dear Kildeer Families,

Can you believe it's February already? The month of January was gone in a blink. I think it's a testament to how time flies when you are having fun!

Speaking of fun, I've had a lot lately! I've enjoyed visiting various classrooms as a guest reader. Also, I absolutely love my picnics with the kids. I get asked every year what my favorite part of my job is and I always have the same response: YOU, the kids!

Here are a couple of other fun moments from the week:

Students making morning announcements

Student Council having some fun on the morning announcements to promote the pajama program!

Third-graders playing with clay

Visiting the art classroom and seeing our 3rd graders bring their plates of food to life in clay!

Literacy lesson on apples

Joining a literacy lesson in Ms.Dolin's classroom to practice main topic through a text about apples!

We will keep the fun going next week with our monthly buddy classroom activity on Tuesday! Please remind your children to come dressed in Cougar gear and/or colors! Can you guess what the focus of this month might be?

Erin's Law
An Illinois law known as Erin's Law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness/prevention curriculum for Kindergarten through Grade 12.
Kildeer Countryside School District 96 researched and observed best practices and programs for delivering this instruction, selecting Victor Pacini to present Be Seen & Heard ©.

The focus of this developmentally appropriate and interactive program is to teach children skills to keep them safe from danger or abuse. Concepts discussed will include distinguishing safe from unsafe touches, safety rules at home and school, saying NO, safe/unsafe secrets, and telling a trusted adult, as well as reinforcing that an adult's touching him or her is not the child's fault.

The presentation to Kildeer School students will be during the school day on Wed., Feb. 7.

If you prefer that your child does not attend this prevention education session, please submit your written request–or your questions–to me at [email protected]MORE INFO

On a final note, we had a great visit today with a few members of our Board of Education. Thank you Renee, Cynthia, and Meg for taking the time to join us! TAKE A LOOK

Our board members were able to travel the school to learn about all of the great things going on at Kildeer. We owe a big thanks to our instructional coaches for taking the time to provide visuals and examples with our district goals in action. Additionally, our third-grade team was very gracious to allow us to learn from you at the math meeting where we discussed Bridges math implementation and looked at data. Finally, thank you to all the students and staff that opened their doors to peek inside the classroom!

We are very proud of our Kildeer Cougars!

Warm Regards,

Principal Vail Kieser
