Kildeer Principal's Message-August 11th

Kildeer Principal's Message-August 11th

Dear Kildeer Families,

We can hardly wait to open our doors next week for staff and students! This has been a busy week welcoming new teachers during orientation, seeing mentors in action, and of course the annual set-up of classrooms. It's always fun to see the creative and personal touches our teachers put into the classrooms to make the learning space welcoming and exciting. I hope your families are just as thrilled as we are to jump into another year of learning!

Please take a peek below for some repeat information. It is truly important, so make sure to mark your calendars!

Meet Your Teacher Day and PTO Fair ~ Students are welcome to visit their classrooms, meet their teachers, and drop-off school supplies from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15th.  Please keep in mind this is not an individual conference time, as many individuals will be meeting the teacher within the hour timeframe.  If you ordered school supplies from the PTO, they will be in the classroom. Please visit the PTO in the large gym from 8:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m. and get signed up for membership toolkit if you have not already!

New Family Meeting ~ If your family is new to Kildeer, we welcome you and look forward to getting to know your family!  Please meet me in the learning center from 8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15th (just prior to Meet Your Teacher Day). This is a great opportunity to find out more about Kildeer!
IMPORTANT: Office Closed immediately following Meet the Teacher on 8/15  from 9:45-12:30. Thank you for your understanding so that we are able to have our entire faculty together to celebrate the start of a new school! We will reopen at 12:30!
Curriculum Night ~ Curriculum Night is scheduled for Wednesday, August 23rd. This is a “parents only” meeting, and I hope you can attend. Please come directly to the large gym for a brief presentation followed by classroom visits.
                             Grades 1-2 @ 6:30p.m.
                             Grades 3, 4 and 5 @  7:00 p.m.
Times overlap for grade levels on curriculum night with the intention that you only need to hear/see the principal portion one time. We start as a large group in the big gym space and after a few messages from us,  you’ll go to your children’s classrooms. Conference sign-ups will not be a part of this evening as we will use an online sign-up process again this year!

School Hours ~
•   Arrival time is between 8:10 a.m. and 8:20 a.m.
•   The tardy bell rings at 8:25 a.m. Parents/adults must accompany tardy students into the office and sign them in if you arrive after 8:25 a.m.  Do not drop your child off at any door since all doors are locked and secured at this time. Please be aware that while we try to keep clocks on time, they can sometimes run a minute or two fast. If there are no adults outside, please walk your child into the front office.
•   Dismissal: 3:00 p.m.
•   Regular Day:  8:25 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
•   Half Day: 8:25 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.

Approved Snack List Revisions–What Parents Need to Know
The 2017–18 school year brings a new APPROVED SNACK LIST–a list of options without the top 8 allergens and gluten. These options are all available at local stores and offer families even more organic/natural choices.

Note that options approved for daily snack (found on Page 1 of this list) are for individual children and are not to be shared. Please discuss with your student this no-sharing restriction of individual daily snacks to help him or her understand this requirement.

Special Event-, party-, and birthday-approved snack options must come only from Page 2 of this new list.

Your support of safe classrooms is appreciated: No homemade baked goods can be served and we ask that you continue to check food labels carefully (manufacturers may change product ingredients without warning). Also, note that your child’s classroom may have a specific snack list to follow.

Please direct your questions about the District’s new Approved Snack List or food allergy management procedures in District 96 to Director of Educational Services Amy Gluck at 847.459.4260, ext. 8019, or [email protected]

For convenient reference throughout the school year, find the Approved Snack List on the website home pages of the District and schools in the list of links below the large photo.

District 96 Band & Orchestra Boosters – Membership ToolKit Sign-Up is Now Active!

Do you have a student participating in the band or orchestra programs this school year?  If so, you will want to stay “in the know” and create an account in the Boosters Membership ToolKit!  In our ToolKit you will have access to the order forms for the required concert polo shirts, forms to order items for Booster fundraisers and to register for events (such as treats for after-concert socials, Gift Cards, Booster membership/donations, and the “End of the Year” party) as well as forms to sign up to volunteer at Booster events.  You will also be able to make purchases with your credit card!  Offerings will be added throughout the year as we get closer to event dates.  Please note that most forms will now be located here, and will no longer be sent out by your band or orchestra director, so it is important that you set up an account to stay informed!  To create an account and get started head to https://bandandorchestraboosters.membershiptoolkit.com and follow the prompts.  If you already have a Membership ToolKit account with the PTO at your school, you can use the same email and password to set up this account.  Questions?  Please contact Sharon Anderson at [email protected].
