Ivy Hall PTO Blog, Sept. 14, 2018

Plenty of reminders this week as school is back in full swing.... Please review the info below to stay up-to-date on the latest reminders and deadlines!

COMING SOON! Fall Scholastic Book Fair!

Our Fall Book Fair is already just around the corner. This year's fair will be on Oct. 1–3, with evening hours on Oct. 3 to coincide with our Ice Cream Social. Stay tuned for more information on our annual Change Wars competition to raise money for books for kids in need!

Questions? Contact Maria Papageorgiou.

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream!

Save the date for Ivy Hall's Ice Cream Social on Oct. 3 from 6:30–8 p.m. All students will receive a sticker at school that gets them one free scoop of Culver's frozen custard with toppings. Additional scoops and water will be available for sale onsite.

Questions? Contact Darci Shaw or Laura Eason.

VOLUNTEER SLOTS REMAIN! Sign Up for Classroom Parties Today!

Ivy Hall holds three classroom parties per school year–on Halloween, before Winter Break, and on Valentine's Day–at 2 p.m. Three parent volunteers per classroom work with the Room Parent to host the party, providing snacks, games, and crafts.

Visit the Ivy Hall PTO MEMBERSHIP TOOLKIT today to find your child's grade-level form and select ONE party to sign up for. Room Parents DO NOT need to sign up for classroom parties. Parents signing up for more than one party per classroom will be asked to select only ONE event to make the opportunity available to more parents.

Are you unable to attend in person? There also are opportunities to donate supplies to the classroom party. Please add your name to the list to help provide supplies.

Sign-up will remain open until about a week before Halloween. We will reopen the form after Halloween if volunteer slots remain open for the Winter and Valentine's Day parties. Stay tuned on this blog and on FACEBOOK for announcements.

Questions about classroom parties? Contact our VPs–Colleen Torf and Laura Eason.

TWO WEEKS LEFT! Purchase Ivy Hall Spirit Wear by Sept. 30

Our Ivy Hall Spirit Wear Shop is now open through Sept. 30. We have exciting new options this year, including T-shirts, hoodies, and pajama pants–with some really fun new styles for both boys and girls. Perfect for showing your Ivy Hall Wildcat pride! View the options and order online HERE.

*REPEAT* Volunteers, Take Note! New Visitor Badge System

Ivy Hall's visitor check-in system has been upgraded this year and you will need to re-register if you plan to volunteer in the school this year. It's highly recommended that you stop by the Ivy Hall office in advance to have your licensed scanned, rather than risk waiting in line on the day of your volunteer event. For large events occurring during the school day (such as classroom parties), the office will pre-print visitor badges for those already registered in the new 2018–2019 system. If you are not in the system, you may be delayed in entering, as you will first need to visit the office to register. Please remember to bring your driver's license with you to any volunteer event.

*REPEAT* HELP WANTED! Staff Appreciation Team Needs YOU

Ivy Hall PTO provides the wonderful School Staff with several Staff Appreciation events over the course of the year, including staff dinners during parent/teacher conferences and Staff Appreciation Week in the spring. This committee is in desperate need of additional volunteers–particularly parents with a flexible schedule (for example, stay-at-home, work-from-home, work-part-time parents) and who have a healthy dose of creativity. If this sounds like you, please reach out today to Maria Papageorgiou or Colleen Torf.

*REPEAT* VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Sign up TODAY!

It was great to see those who stopped by the PTO Fair during Meet-the-Teacher, but for those who weren't able to, great news! All our volunteer sign-ups are now ONLINE ONLY, in our Ivy Hall PTO MEMBERSHIP TOOLKIT. Hop on over and signup to volunteer for one of our many events this school year–there is something for everyone! Need help? Check out our MEMBERSHIP TOOLKIT QUICK START GUIDE in the Ivy Hall VIRTUAL BACKPACK.

*REPEAT* COMMITTEES In Need!

Many of our committees have started the school year without a full team. Please consider donating your time to one of the following cmmittees:
• Breakfast with Your Buddy
• Fifth-Grade Spring Fling
• Girls' Night Out (4th-grade parents)
• Guys' Night Out (4th- & 5th-grade parents)
• Variety Show

Please head over to MEMBERSHIP TOOLKIT (MTK) today if you'd like to sign up to volunteer at one or more of these events. Contact Maria Papageorgiou or one of the committee chairpeople (find contact info on MTK forms) if you'd be willing to get more involved by joining a committee.
