Friday, November 10th, 2023

Dear Ivy Hall Families,

The end of trimester one is in the books! It’s hard to believe that we have completed one-third of the 2023-2024 school year. With Halloween behind us, teachers and students enjoyed a regular 5 day week of instruction. Our monthly theme at Ivy Hall is gratitude. Please ask your child what they are grateful for in their life. I’m hopeful that being grateful for Ivy Hall is one of their responses.

Have a great weekend,

Mike Senatore

NEW*Family Reading Adventure Night Part 4*

Join us and mark your calendars for Thursday November 16th, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Get cozy, wear pajamas, bring your favorite bedtime stuffie, and join us in an adventurous reading night at Ivy Hall. This year we have a new book swap and any Ivy Hall student attending will earn a raffle ticket for the book machine! Don’t forget to register for a yummy treat!

I have a new addition to add to the post from last week’s principal message! Each week I will feature a new book and session offered at our Reading Adventure Night. This will help inform your decision for which two session you would like to attend the night of! There are four offered this year. If you would like to know about previous sessions, visit the last principal’s message.

This week I introduce to you, Avocado Asks by Momoko Abe.

Avocado is feeling just fine in the fruit and veggie aisle at the supermarket - until a young customer asks a difficult question: "Is an avocado a fruit or a vegetable?" Avocado doesn't know the answer either - and the question won't seem to go away! A brilliantly funny book about identity and being confident in your own skin - featuring the world's most popular superfood!

The activities for this book include:

  • Learn how to draw your very own avocado. Add color to your creation, as well, to enhance your sketch. As time allows, complete your own avocado coloring sheet, too!
  • Another session includes Reading Under the Stars with flashlights. Get cozy with your pjs and enjoy reading many of our favorite books in our Ivy Hall library.

REMEMBER to RSVP and register early to receive a cookie and milk straws! YUM!

Register here!

Can’t wait to see you there! - Mrs. Heimer

REPEAT *Cat Packs T-shirts (LAST CALL!)*

In a previous Principal’s Message, we highlighted Cat Packs as a new initiative at Ivy Hall School. Cat Packs are a student led club that will plan monthly activities for students to participate in across and within grade levels. The first activity will take place in November. Each student is a member of a specific Cat Pack and will receive a colored Cat Pack t-shirt courtesy of the School & the PTO. Please fill out this form to let us know your child’s shirt size for their Cat Pack t-shirt. Please keep in mind that we recommend choosing a size that your child can grow into. We will not be providing replacement t-shirts if they are lost. In addition, if you have more than one child at Ivy Hall, please fill out one form for each child. Thank you!

REPEAT *Lightspeed Systems*

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As a part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring a safe and secure online environment for our students, we are excited to announce that we will be offering the Lightspeed Systems Weekly Student Online Activity Report to all parents and guardians of our school community.

You will receive an email from District 96 that will enable you to register for the Weekly Student Online Activity Report. Once you receive the email from our school district you will have the ability to register. Simply choose to register and follow the prompts to sign up for the Weekly Student Online Activity Report.

The Lightspeed Systems Weekly Student Online Activity Report is a valuable tool that will allow you to gain insights into your child's web history while using the school's iPad. This report will provide an overview of the websites visited by your child while using the iPad. The report is designed to promote transparency and communication between parents and the school, fostering a safer digital learning experience for our students.

The weekly activity report is only accessible to parents and guardians registered for this service. It will not be shared with any external parties, and the data collected will be used solely for the purpose of improving the online safety measures at our school. Parents/guardians will not start receiving weekly reports until their child has at least a week's worth of browsing data.

Lightspeed Parent/Student Enrollment Email Schedule: Families will begin to receive LightSpeed Parent report emails from Lightspeed. This email correspondence will allow you to enroll and begin receiving your child’s reports from Lightspeed for the following grades on or near the following dates below.
