Friday, June 2nd, 2023

Good Afternoon,

Welcome to Summer Break, we made it!  Today is our last edition of the Principal’s Message for this school year. I want to thank our teachers for all their hard work in helping all of our learners grow throughout the school year. Thank you to our support staff for their flexibility in supporting students each day. Thank you to our students for “following their roads” this year and for learning and growing with us! Thank you to our wonderful and hard working PTO for your thoughtfulness and commitment to our students. Finally, thank you to all of our Ivy Hall families for welcoming me into this amazing community. I have enjoyed my first year as the Principal of Ivy Hall and I look forward to continuing this journey next year.

As a school, we wish our 5th graders the best as they leave Ivy Hall ready for the new experiences and environments that middle school will bring them.  You should expect to receive the next Principal’s Message at the end of the first week of August.

Enjoy your summer!

Mike Senatore

REPEAT *Report Cards and 6th Grade Placement*

Trimester 3 report cards will be available on TeacherEase (School Insight) at 3:00 pm on Monday, June 5th.

5th to 6th grade placement results will be emailed to parents shortly after report cards are available on Monday, June 5th.

REPEAT *Summer Reading*

This summer, we want students to experience the pure joy of reading. Since the purpose of summer reading is to help foster a love of reading, we strongly feel that students should read a book that is of high interest to them and close to the difficulty level of text they would encounter during the school year.

To support our elementary students in continuing to read over the summer, each grade level has a recommended reading list, as well as optional reading lessons that can be completed independently by students. Both the lists and the summer reading lessons can be found on our district website.

REPEAT *Beginning Band Registration Open for Incoming 5th Graders*

Registration for the 5th grade beginning band program continues through to September.

Families can register an incoming fifth-grader for the band program now  to secure an instrument and the necessary materials to support that student’s success.

Follow this link to the Ivy Hall and Prairie Band sign-up link ~ 5th Grade Band Registration Flyer at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qOsnugcgq3F2agbjGEKMs-2mGC5OmRkh-hYnLx4IlWM/edit ~ to sign up for the band, rent an instrument and get the needed materials.

The goal is to have an instrument and the needed supplies by August 17.

Band lessons start in August at Ivy Hall.
