Friday, November 18th

Dear Families,

Although the recent snow has mixed reviews amongst Ivy Hall staff members, you can bet your bottom dollar that the students loved the early snow sighting! Please see below for important information about snow gear during the winter months.

A big thanks to our PTO for hosting the first PTO Assembly of the year this past Monday. Students were able to see Smarty Pants - The Mousetrap Machine Show. They learned all about different types of simple machines through an entertaining and educational assembly.

Another great highlight of the week was seeing so many families enjoying our Family Reading Night this week was so wonderful! Thank you to all who volunteered and made the event so successful.

As we head into the Thanksgiving break, I want to thank the Ivy Hall community for being so welcoming.  I appreciate all of your support and feel so fortunate to work with the students and families of Ivy Hall. We are a team and could not do this work without each other.

Given our shorter week next week, there will not be a Principal’s Message sent out, but we will resume the scheduled messages on December 2nd.  I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday,

Take care,

Mike Senatore

NEW *Report Cards*

Trimester 1 report cards will be available online after 3 PM on Friday 11/18 for students in Early Childhood through 8th Grade.

See instructions to access the report cards online CLICK HERE.

Please contact the SCHOOL OFFICE with questions.

NEW *MAP TESTING*

All students in grades K-8 will be participating in NWEA MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) assessment. The MAP assessment is a normed-referenced, computerized adaptive test that helps teachers, parents, and administrators improve learning for all students and make informed decisions to promote a child's academic growth.  Like in previous years, all students will be taking the MAP test in reading and math during the school day. Testing will take place on December 5th and December 6th.

NEW *RECESS DURING THE WINTER*

For students to play in the snow, they must have snow pants, boots, gloves and jacket. This ensures that their clothes, hands and feet are dry for lunch and the remainder of the afternoon.  Students who do not have snow pants and boots can still play on the blacktop and playground area. Having a spare set of clothes (socks, shoes, pants, shirt, etc.) is a must during the winter season!

The next Spirit Day hosted by the Student Council will take place on Friday, December 2nd. The theme will be “Sports Day.”
