Parent Pick Up/Parent Drop Off (New)

Pick Up (PM)

Window signs? If you have them please put them up in the passenger windshield. If you don’t have a sign, please take an 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper and write the names of your student(s) on the sheet. Having this sign visible to the person calling student names makes the process much faster. Fewer signs mean a slower parent pick up.

Drop Off (AM)

Parents we have a rolling drop off. Please refrain from dropping students off on Penny Lane outside the south lot. It is a safety concern. Please allow extra time to use the rolling drop off.

Meet our Instructional Coaches (New)

This week we are going to hear from our Technology Coach Jessica Mandell.

My name is Jessica Mandell and I am the technology coach at Ivy Hall.   I work with the teachers to support technology integration into all subjects as well as to support the creation of learning environments that promote important skills students will need in their futures - creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.  Throughout the year, students might see me in the classrooms helping to model or co-teach a lesson.  I also visit classrooms at every grade level throughout the year to talk with students about important concepts related to digital citizenship.

A common question that I have, is how can I support my child and his or her use of technology at home (both personal and school issued). A great resource that is available to families is a website called Common Sense Media. Check out the website here https://www.commonsensemedia.org/

If you need to reach me throughout the school year, you can contact me at [email protected].

YOU MUST STOP! (New)

The Buffalo Grove Police Department reports an increase in motorists passing stopped school buses that are loading and unloading students. Because students’ safety is our priority, officers will be monitoring areas where serious violations such as this are prevalent.

Please review the law:

Drivers must stop before meeting or overtaking a school bus loading or unloading passengers on a TWO-lane roadway (even if there is a raised median dividing the roadway).

Drivers must remain stopped until the Stop arm on the school bus is no longer extended and the flashing lights are turned off (or the bus driver signals the driver to pass).

A driver failing to do so may be charged with the violation and receive a mandatory court appearance. Passing a stopped school bus has a fine of $500–$1200. The driving privileges of a person convicted of passing a stopped school bus will be suspended for 3 months for the first offense and one year for the second offense.

When is it permissible for a driver to pass a stopped school bus?

It is permissible when the driver is on a highway with FOUR or more lanes (at least two lanes in either direction) and is traveling in the opposite direction of the bus.
