Ivy Hall New Family Day Visit & Meet the Teacher (New)

Last Tuesday, Mrs. Mollerdino and Mr. Hanrahan had the opportunity to welcome new Ivy Hall families into our school community. New families entered the school at 8:00am and were given an overview of the school. The presentation is here. After the presentation, we took a tour of the building. If you are a new family and would like more information please do not hesitate to reach out to the front office for support 847-459-0022.

Students and staff were excited to reunite. Families and students had the opportunity to meet their teachers, gather information, and get acclimated for the new school year. This year is already off to such a great start!

How Do I Find Out What I Need to Know? (New)

You're in the right place.  Start here. This will be delivered to your email box each Friday. Now that's service!  A couple other things I highly recommend checking out:

PTO Blog: This is always linked in my blog post below. Here you'll learn about the FUN things our PTO brings to us to bond us together as a community. Don't miss out!

E-News: This is also delivered to your email on Fridays.  Here you'll find out about district level news. You'll hear from Mrs. Julie Schmidt, our Superintendent, and acquire knowledge about parent learning opportunities so you'll have a greater understanding of our practices in District 96.  E-News also includes important things, like the monthly lunch menu.

Virtual Backpack: Here you'll find all forms provided by the district, PTO, and us!  We're a green school district. We don't send excess paper home. We deliver the information to your email box and allow you to pick and choose what you want to learn more about.  All of our blogs will always tell you about something new so you know when and where to look.

Teacher websites and newsletters: Of course!  Don't forget to read those! You'll find out all about your child's teacher's preferred communication style on curriculum night.

First Day Assembly (New)

The first day of school was fantastic. Thank you all for your patience with our entry into the building. Our students celebrated our school with some fun grade level cheers. The staff even had a cheer and it was hilarious. I think our students showed incredible spirit and I’m looking forward to a great school year.

Our theme for the year is, “There Is Only One You”. Our theme comes from the best selling book by author Linda Kranz, There Is Only One You. Students were reminded that there is only one of them in this great big world. As Wildcats we are part of a community and a school, but we are also unique individuals. Our school will work to wrap this book around our social and emotional learning standards this year.

Lunch & Recess Expectations (New)

This week students reviewed expected behaviors in their classrooms. Students also learned and revisited expectations in the lunchroom and out at recess. The presentation that teachers used is here.

MAP Assessments August 20–29 (New)

District 96 students in kindergarten through Grade 8 will be participating in MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessments in the areas of math and reading/language arts during portions of their school days August 20–29.

The MAP assessment is given three times during the school year to equip our teachers with data they will use to identify their students' current understanding as well as opportunities for support and extension. Students do not need to study for their MAP tests; sufficient sleep and nutrition are, as always, the best preparation. This assessment serves as a benchmark–a point in time from which to measure academic growth through the academic year.

For more information about MAP assessments, please see the following resources:

ABOUT MAP: PARENT TOOLKIT

In September KCSD96 parents will receive info by email with directions for accessing their child’s MAP assessment results online.

If you have questions about MAP assessments, please contact your student’s principal.
