Newcomer’s Night

I want to thank the families, the Guiding Coalition for Interculturalism, Betsy Fresen, Katie Sheridan, and all the building administrators that came out to Twin Groves last Wednesday evening. Our new families met and learned about District 96 and their specific schools. Families had the opportunity to ask specific questions and we all had a great time meeting and sharing our with you. We look forward to this school year. Welcome to District 96!

Snacks & Medication

Approved Snacks: What Parents Need to Know

The District has revised the APPROVED SNACK LIST,* adding more items to this list to give families more choices. The items the list includes are free of the Top 8 allergens: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy, and wheat. This list includes the foods that are approved for students' Daily Snacks. It also includes (for children in Grades 1–5) foods approved for Special Events such as birthday treats for a class or for PTO Halloween, Winter, or Valentine's Day parties.

IMPORTANT: All items for Daily Snacks, with the exception of fruits and vegetables, MUST be prepackaged to allow staff to easily check that snacks meet the approved requirements. Director of Educational Services Amy Gluck also has provided responses to FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs) about foods approved for daily snacks/special events.

For your convenience, find links to the District 96 Approved Snack List and Approved Snack List FAQs on the homepage of the District 96 website and the homepage of each school.

NO medications can be accepted without the district Medical Authorization forms being completed by Dr and Parent, and that all medications must be brought in by a parent. (All forms are on our website)

CHANGES TO PARENT PICK UP

Students that are picked up from parent pick up should obtain a sticker by registering for one. Register to receive a sticker HERE. Having stickers on your vehicle helps to aid our students in a more secure pickup. If you do not have a sticker, we may ask additional questions for us to verify your pick up vehicle. This is for the safety of our students.  There will be a table for registration and pick up of stickers during Meet the Teacher. They are free of charge.

DROP OFF AND PICK UP PROCEDURES

Only cars that are parking and walking students into school will be allowed to enter the east parking lot from 8:10am-8:25am. At the end of the day, only buses will be permitted in the east parking lot between 2:50pm. and 3:10pm.  Cars that are parked in the east parking lot will not be able to leave during dismissal time.

Parents that drop off and/or pick up their children will enter a rolling drop off/pick up on the west blacktop near the playground by driving east on Penny Lane.  Parents will exit the rolling drop/pick up by driving east on Penny Lane.  All students that are being picked up will exit the building via the west doors where they will be met by faculty.  Faculty members will direct cars through the rolling drop off and pick up and assist students (See Map below).
