Erin's Law (New)

Students participated in our Erin's Law assemblies yesterday morning.

An Illinois law known as Erin's Law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness/prevention curriculum for Kindergarten through Grade 12. Kildeer Countryside School District 96 researched and observed best practices and programs for delivering this instruction, selecting Victor Pacini to present Be Seen & Heard ©. The focus of this developmentally appropriate and interactive program is to teach children skills to keep them safe from danger or abuse. Concepts discussed included distinguishing safe from unsafe touches, safety rules at home and school, saying NO, safe/unsafe secrets, and telling a trusted adult, as well as reinforcing that an adult's touching him or her is not the child's fault.

Flu Season Send or Keep Home? (New)

Deciding when a child is too sick to go to school can be a difficult decision for parents to make. When deciding, use the guidelines linked below and seek the advice of a healthcare provider.

Valentine’s Day Parties (New)

Please remember that if you are donating snacks and/or drinks for the winter parties on February 14th, these items MUST come from the Approved Snack List. Please also have these items at school by Wednesday, February 14th at 9:00am to be approved by the nurse.

If you have been approved by the head room parent to volunteer at the classroom party and have not yet been raptored at Ivy Hall, please stop in prior to the parties to scan your license in the office with Mrs. Hannon. This will make the check in process run smoothly on party day. Only those who have been approved by the head room parent can attend.

Updates and News from the Band Boosters

Please support the Boosters by dining at or ordering from Lou Malnati's this Wed., Jan. 31, mentioning this FLYER at the time of order. Also, the Boosters have much more news and opportunities to share. Please read the latest info HERE.

2nd Grade General Music Concert (Repeat)

Thursday, February 8th from 6:30-7:00 pm in the Ivy Hall big gym our second-grade students and Mrs. Coleman will be performing. Our students have been working very hard and are excited to showcase their vocal talents for friends and family. Please come and enjoy the program. Directly after the event, families are welcome and encouraged to attend Ivy Hall Celebrates Diversity.

Ivy Hall Celebrates Diversity & Learning (Repeat)

Ivy Hall Celebrates Diversity is a school-wide event that will take place on Thursday, February 8th from 7:00 pm-7:45 pm after the second-grade music concert. If you do not have a second-grade student, you can simply arrive at 7:00 pm and head to your student(s) homeroom(s). Each team will showcase something different and unique that speaks to our school diversity. The event will be an open format much like Ivy Hall Celebrates has been in the past, however, this year each team will showcase our theme, diversity, in their own unique way. We chose the open format because many families have more than one classroom they may want to visit due to having multiple students. Please come and celebrate diversity and learning by visiting us on this evening.

New Session Begins for After-School Spanish Instruction (Repeat)

After-school learning opportunities for our students include learning Spanish. Fun Fluency Immersion Spanish classes (January–May 2018) will begin later this month. Class tuition includes a workbook and take-home and online activities for continued practice at home. Please find program info for our school HERE.

Physical Education (Repeat)

We will be starting our Human and Growth and Development unit the week of January 29. This unit is for grades third through fifth.

  • Third grade lessons are on plants, animals, and babies.

  • Fourth grade lessons are on the development of babies and puberty.

  • Fifth grade lessons are on puberty and a discussion on Erin's Law with our social worker, Ms. Jarrett.

The links below contain a document with more information and a waiver if you wish to opt out of the Human and Growth and Development unit. The opt out forms must be signed and returned to the PE team.

Attention 5th Grade Parents/Guardians: From District 96 E-News (Repeat)

THE REQUIREMENT FOR SOME TO PROVE RESIDENCY AGAIN

Attention: Parents of all current KDG and 5th-Graders

Who must prove residency?

Parents of all current KDG and 5th-Graders.

Yes–even if you proved residency at the start of the current school year–and even if you have other students currently attending KCSD96 schools–it still is necessary to prove residency again for current kindergartners and current 5th-graders. Administrative assistants at Willow Grove and KCSD96 elementary schools will begin accepting proof of residency after school resumes on Jan. 8, following Winter Break.

At what school should you prove residency?

Prove residency at Willow Grove for current kindergartners.

Prove residency at the elementary school your 5th grader currently attends.

How do you prove residency?

At Willow Grove or the elementary school your 5th grader attends now, please visit the building office and present the following to the administrative assistant:

• a current monthly mortgage or lease statement or property tax bill

AND

• a current utility bill

By when must you prove residency?

No later than Fri., Feb. 23. This deadline is important! Your current kindergartner’s or current 5th grader’s online registration form link will not be emailed when 2018–19 registration opens for all returning students districtwide on Mar. 1 and he/she will not be assigned a teacher for the 2018–19 school year until you do so.
