The purpose of the meeting is to present the project and to inform about the District's decision to move to an alternate energy source for this campus. The community is welcome to attend this meeting on Jan. 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the Woodlawn Middle School Learning Center, 6362 Gilmer Rd., Long Grove. Please call 847.459.4260 with questions.

SMART Watches & Other Electronics (New)

SMART watches are starting to show up here at the elementary schools. Many SMART watches have similar capabilities to SMART phones (game, voice, and text capabilities).  If a SMART watch becomes a distraction, it may be confiscated and stored in the office to remove the distraction from the learning environment. Essentially, we will treat the SMART watches like a cell phone. Confiscated equipment may be picked up in the office at the end of the day.

Erin's Law Abuse Awareness/Prevention (Repeat)

An Illinois law known as Erin's Law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness/prevention curriculum for Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Kildeer Countryside School District 96 researched and observed best practices and programs for delivering this instruction, selecting Victor Pacini to present Be Seen & Heard ©.

The focus of this developmentally appropriate and interactive program is to teach children skills to keep them safe from danger or abuse. Concepts discussed will include distinguishing safe from unsafe touches, safety rules at home and school, saying NO, safe/unsafe secrets, and telling a trusted adult, as well as reinforcing that an adult's touching him or her is not the child's fault.

Parents who would like to preview the information he will present to KCSD96 elementary students may attend a program with Mr. Pacini at 6 p.m. on Tues., Jan. 23, in the Mat Room at Ivy Hall School, 1072 Ivy Hall Ln., Buffalo Grove.

The presentation to Ivy Hall students will be during the school day on Thurs., Jan. 25.

If you prefer that your child does not attend this prevention education session, please submit your written request–or your questions–to me at [email protected]. MORE INFO

THE REQUIREMENT FOR SOME TO PROVE RESIDENCY AGAIN

Attention: Parents of all current KDG and 5th-Graders

Who must prove residency?

Parents of all current KDG and 5th-Graders.

Yes–even if you proved residency at the start of the current school year–and even if you have other students currently attending KCSD96 schools–it still is necessary to prove residency again for current kindergartners and current 5th-graders. Administrative assistants at Willow Grove and KCSD96 elementary schools will begin accepting proof of residency after school resumes on Jan. 8, following Winter Break.

At what school should you prove residency?

Prove residency at Willow Grove for current kindergartners.

Prove residency at the elementary school your 5th grader currently attends.

How do you prove residency?

At Willow Grove or the elementary school your 5th grader attends now, please visit the building office and present the following to the administrative assistant:

• a current monthly mortgage or lease statement or property tax bill

AND

• a current utility bill

By when must you prove residency?

No later than Fri., Feb. 23. This deadline is important! Your current kindergartner’s or current 5th grader’s online registration form link will not be emailed when 2018–19 registration opens for all returning students districtwide on Mar. 1 and he/she will not be assigned a teacher for the 2018–19 school year until you do so.
