Ivy Hall Weekly News 8.19.16

first day assembly

On Wednesday, all students and staff came together to kick off the school year. We took a few minutes to review our Ivy Hall Wildcat WOW expected behaviors, meet our new Assistant Principal, Dr. Pedersen, and sing the Ivy Hall school song. It has been wonderful to see such excitement to be back at school this week!

curriculum night

Please join your child's teacher for Curriculum Night on Thursday, August 25th. This is an opportunity to learn more about your child's classroom and what he or she will be learning throughout the school year. You will start in the large gym with Dr. Pedersen and myself. Immediately following, you will head to your child's classroom. This is a "parents only" event and look forward to seeing you there. Please note that conference sign ups will NOT be at Curriculum Night. We will use an online sign up system much closer to conferences.

Grades 1-2 6:00-7:00

Grades 3-5 7:00-8:00

HOW DO I FIND WHAT I NEED TO KNOW?

You're in the right place.  Start here.  This will be delivered to your email box each Friday. Now that's service!  A couple other things I highly recommend checking out:

  • PTO Blog: This is always linked in my email and below. Here you'll learn about the FUN things our PTO brings to us to bond us together as a community. Don't miss out!
  • E-News: This is also delivered to your email on Fridays. Here you'll find out about district level news.  You'll hear from Mrs. Julie Schmidt, our Superintendent, and parent learning opportunities so you'll have a greater understanding of our practices in District 96. This also includes important things, like the lunch menu.
  • Virtual Backpack: Here you'll find all forms provided from the district, PTO, and us! We're a green school district. We don't send excess paper home. We deliver the information to your email box, and allow you to pick and choose what you want to learn more about. All of our blogs will always tell you about something new so you know when to look.
  • Teacher websites and newsletters: Of course! Don't forget to read those! You'll find out all about your child's teacher's communication on curriculum night.

MEASURES OF ACADEMIC PROGRESS (MAP) TESTING

MAP testing begins next week. Both math and reading are assessed. Your child’s teacher will use MAP results as another piece of information in planning instruction for your child. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher.

Arrival & Dismissal

Again, thank you for your patience with drop off and pick up. As families become more familiar, this will become a bit quicker. Please remember that morning supervision does not begin prior to 8:10. Students should not be dropped off prior to this time. Please look at my August 5th Principal's Message for pictures of our drop off and pick up procedures.
