Finally, a week that really felt like spring!  It was great seeing classes take strolls outside or otherwise finding an excuse to enjoy this week’s bright sun and warmer temperatures!

Reminder: There’s a half-day of school next Friday, April 21, 2023.

      • Grades 1-5 dismiss at 11:45 a.m.

      • Blended Early Childhood & ECSE:  Blended and ECSE AM and PM alternate days on half-day attendance days. AM only attends on April 21 (PM students do not have school). Hours are 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. Parent drop-off begins at 8:20 a.m.
      • Structured Learning Classroom: 8:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.
      • Kindergarten: 8:40 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
  • April 24:        5th Grade Parents’ Night: Transition to Middle School (7-8:15 p.m., virtual)
  • April 25:        Early Release Day / Early Release Dismissal Times
    • Grades 1-5 dismiss at 2:05 p.m.
    • Grades 6-8 dismiss at 1:30 p.m.
    • Kindergarten dismisses at 2:05 p.m.
    • Structured: 8:30 a.m. to 2:05 p.m.
    • Blended AM: 8:30 to 10 a.m.
    • Blended PM: 12:35 to 2:05 p.m.
  • April 25:        Board of Education meeting (7 p.m., Mat Room, Ivy Hall Elementary School)

Parent Night: 5th Graders Transitioning to Middle School

On Monday, April 24, parents of 5th graders can join the “Transition to Middle School,” where they can get answers to questions they may have about their student entering sixth-grade at a District middle school.

This information-packed virtual program begins at 7 p.m. April 24, 2023 (via Zoom). 

Hear from Twin Groves Principal Jessica Barnes and Woodlawn Principal Greg Grana, who will discuss academics, extracurricular opportunities, and changes that middle school years bring. A highlight?  Current 6th-grade panelists sharing their perspectives.

April 15 is a Red Letter Day

Saturday, April 15, is a ‘Red Letter Day’ around District 96.  There are several items due that day.  

Those are:                                                                           Reprove Residency: Deadline April 15 2023

  • April 15:  Dual Language Interest Forms due
  • April 15:  Reprove Residency deadline for Current K and 5th Grade students (https://tinyurl.com/D96ReproveResidency)
  • April 15:  Last day to take a $20 Early-Bird Registration Discount


 

Deadline: April 15 for Current Grades K and 5 to Reprove Residency

District 96 families of current Kindergarten and fifth-grade students are reminded that they will need to reprove their residency by April 15.                 

To reprove residency, scan or take a photo with your phone and email to the administrative assistant at the school your current Kindergartner or 5th grader now attends:

  1. A current monthly mortgage OR lease statement OR property tax bill OR Warranty Deed, and
  2. A current utility bill (e.g., water OR electric OR waste collection), and
  3. This Proof of Residency Form (completed and signed)

Your current kindergartner’s or current 5th grader’s teacher assignment/schedule will not be provided for the 2023–24 school year until residency is reproved.

April 15:  Deadline for Early-Bird Registration Discount

Registration for the 2023-24 school year is now open.  Parents and guardians of pre-registered and returning District 96 students can check their email for the link to register their child for the 2023-24 school year.

Complete registration by April 15 to receive a $20 Early-Bird discount. Families with returning students who register after April 15 will pay the standard registration fee.  Registering early helps us to plan for the upcoming school year.  

Registration fees for 2023-24 are:

  • Early Childhood/Blended Tuition:  $2,870 (or, $335.07 monthly)
  • Kindergarten:  $90
  • Grades 1-4:  $110
  • Grade 5:  $120
  • Grades 6-8:  $135
