District 96 Staff, We Celebrate You!

District 96 has more than 500 of them ~ teachers, coaches, Administrative Assistants, Tech Gurus, etc. Every day, they show up to not just do a job, but to make life more meaningful for some of the littlest people around us.

Staff, we salute you in advance of Staff Appreciation Week, May 2-6.

  • May 2-6:  Staff Appreciation Week 
  • May 3:  Board of Education meeting (7 p.m., Ivy Hall Boardroom)
  • May 3:  Kindergarten Kick-off (for fully-registered, incoming Kindergartners)
  • May 5:  Twin Groves Spring Musical (Twin Groves, 7 p.m.)
  • May 11:  5th Grade Concert at Prairie ES
  • May 11:  Country Meadows Science Fair

 

Kindergarten Kick-Off is Tuesday, May 3

This Tuesday, May 3, incoming Kindergartners get to tour Willow Grove and experience an activity in a classroom, while their parents glean from Principal Smith.  The event is Kindergarten Kick-Off 2022.

Congrats, Twin Groves 'Adapted PE Teacher of the Year'

Congratulations to Ms. Emma Degen, adapted physical education teacher at Twin Groves, who has been selected as the 2022 Adapted Physical Education Teacher of the Year.  This award is bestowed by the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (IAHPERD).  Ms. Degen will be honored on Thursday Dec. 1, 2022, at the Awards Reception and Ceremony during the IAHPERD State Convention at the Tinley Park Convention Center.

“Her application was outstanding in all areas,” according to a news release noting her win.

Ms. Degen teaches physical education to students with varying abilities, who use a number of adaptive processes to exercise and maneuver throughout stations in the gym during PE class.

District 96 schools are alive with the vibrancy of learning, sharing and fun.  This past week was no exception..

  • Kildeer Elementary School students celebrated culture day today, with some of them wearing clothing that reflected various cultures and countries.

  • At Twin Groves this week, students in Ms. Dodge's Art Class continued making the human busts that they will fire and glaze for display in an upcoming Art Showcase.

In the Virtual BackPacks

The Mélange and Repertory Dance Companies are hosting general auditions on May 11 and 12 for students interested in dancing for their dance program. Check out the Virtual BackPacks for the flier and details about what you need to know prior to the audition.
