Good Afternoon Country Meadows Families,
It’s hard to believe that we are nine instructional days away from summer break, where has the time gone?! Please see the upcoming dates below for our final two week schedule as well as some repeating informational items that are still of importance.
This week was a busy one for our CM Cubs! We had our final Cub Community PRO Assembly. Our very own Courtesy Cub joined in all the fun. On Thursday, we had our annual Field Day AND the weather cooperated (we had to pivot for a little bit). All students in 1st - 5th grade enjoyed the games and showed great sportsmanship. Thank you, Mr. Loessl and Ms. Almdale for organzing an amazing day!
We’re looking forward to finishing the year strong!
Have a great weekend,
Aska Lempke

New *Band Information for Current 4th Grade Families*
Dear 4th Grade Parents,
Next year as a 5th grader, your child will have the opportunity to participate in the school’s Beginning Band. Band is a lot of fun! And it provides social interaction while strengthening general skills. Making music together and developing a critical ear can be a meaningful and enjoyable experience for many years.
Here’s what 4th graders and their families will experience before the end of this school year and into next year:
-
School Assembly: Students will learn about band instruments and how band works.
-
Instrument "Try Its": During the regular school day, students will try 2 of their favorite instruments, and the teacher will make a recommendation based on the student's affinities and the needs of the band.
-
Parent Meeting: Learn more at the “Beginning Band Parent Meeting” on Monday, May 20th at 6:30 pm in the Woodlawn band room.
-
Band Registration and Instrument Rental: You may register for band starting after the Parent Meeting on May 20th. After registering for band, you will need to obtain the instrument, supplies and music book. For your convenience, Quinlan and Fabish music store will be available in the Woodlawn Cafeteria from 4:30-7:00 on Wednesday, May 22nd. You can sign up for band, talk to the band teacher, and obtain the instrument, supplies and book all on the same night.
-
Band Lessons Begin: Band lessons begin in August. The first band lesson will be without instruments. Before the second band lesson all students must have their own instrument, book and supplies.
Please visit the Beginning Band Website at tinyurl.com/bandcmk for more details.
I am looking forward to working with all band students and families in the next few months! Feel free to email any questions or bring them to the parent meeting.
Sincerely,
Chad Craw
REPEAT *Beginning Orchestra Parent Info Night*
Current 3rd grade families are invited to attend our Beginning Orchestra Parent Info Night on Tuesday, May 21st at 7pm in the Twin Groves Large Gym. At the info night, families have the opportunity to learn more about our orchestra program at Country Meadows, which begins in 4th grade. There is no cost for the lessons; parents need to rent an instrument, purchase the necessary books as well as a concert polo shirt. The orchestra program continues all the way through 8th grade, and our students go on to participate in high school and beyond.
Due to schedule conflicts, Country Meadows students will not have the opportunity to try instruments before this information night. This means that your student might be interested in joining orchestra but will not yet know what instrument they would like to play. Families are invited to come to our information night to learn about our class and wait to sign their student up until after they have a chance to try the instruments. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding!
REPEAT *Kildeer Countryside School District 96 iPad Collection Notice for End of School Year 2023-24*
As the 2023-24 school year draws to a close, we need to inform all students and families about the iPad collection process. Unlike previous years, where students retained iPads over the summer, this year, we require their return to update and refresh our equipment for the 2024-25 academic year.

-
Kindergarten: May 29
-
1st - 7th Grade: May 30
Items to be Returned:
Each student is required to return the following items:
-

Damage and Missing Items Policy:
If any items are damaged or missing, please refer to the iPad handbook signed at registration. Remember:
-
Students have coverage for two incidents of damage to the iPad and two to accessories (charging cable, brick, case, pencil).
-
Beyond these incidents, costs for repair or replacement fall to the students and their families.
-
Intentional damages are not covered by the district.
Summer Programming Exception:
Students enrolled in summer programming will retain their iPads and accessories through the summer session, returning them by June 27, 2024. This ensures that all students participating in educational activities have the necessary resources.
We appreciate your cooperation in returning the iPads and accessories promptly and in good condition. This initiative is crucial for maintaining high-quality educational support for our students.
Thank you for your attention and continued support of Kildeer Countryside School District 96.
