Country Meadows Principal's Message - Friday, December 15, 2023

Good afternoon Country Meadows Families,

As we approach the last week before the holiday break, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we've had together this semester. The hard work, dedication, and resilience demonstrated by our students, staff, and parents have truly made this a memorable and successful period.

Next week, we have some exciting activities planned to celebrate the achievements of our students. Additionally, winter classroom parties are scheduled for next Thursday, December 21st. Thank you in advance to the PTO and all the parent volunteers who help support and lead these fun activities.

It's been a year of growth, learning, and collaboration, and I am proud of each and every one of our students!

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Have a great weekend,

Aska Lempke

New *Country Meadows Got Talent 2024 Variety Show*

We are very excited to share with you that the Country Meadows Got Talent 2024 Variety Show will be taking place on Monday, March 18th and/or Wednesday, March 20th (all depending on how many entries we have). We already know that Country Meadows is full of talent!!! This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to share and celebrate their creative performances (telling jokes, magic tricks, dances, singing, reciting poetry, juggling, playing instruments, etc.) Students may sign-up as a group or individual act and all acts will be limited to two minutes.  Everything and everyone is welcome! We are looking forward to seeing all the lovely performances!!! There will be a Pre-Tryout meeting for interested students after school on Wednesday, January 10th from 3:00-3:30. Please complete this google form if your child will be attending this Pre-Tryout Meeting as we will need parental permission for students to stay after school. Students will need to be picked up at 3:30 where we will dismiss from the main office doors that day.

Other important dates to share that are mandatory for participation in the Variety Show:

*NEW* Lost and Found

Please encourage your child to take a look at the lost and found. We will be donating all items not collected by Thursday, December 21.

REPEAT *Recess During the Winter*

For students to play in the snow, they must have snow pants, boots, gloves, and a jacket.  This applies to both the field and the playground area. This ensures that their clothes, hands, and feet are dry for lunch and the remainder of the afternoon.  Students who do not have snow pants and boots can still play on the blacktop area.

REPEAT *Newcomer Coffee and Conversation*

District 96 hosts a Newcomer Coffee & Conversation for parents and guardians of newly registered students, to give them an opportunity to ask questions and share information about their transition.

This year’s Coffee starts at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, at Ivy Hall Elementary School (Mat Room), 1072 Ivy Hall Lane, Buffalo Grove.

It is an informal opportunity for these new parents and guardians to ask questions and share their thoughts ~ with other parents and staff ~ about their experiences in the district. These parents might be experiencing the District’s social customs and teaching practices for the first time, just as their students have, and can glean from the experiences of others.

New parents/guardians who missed the New Family Tours in August are encouraged to attend this conversation.  Those who did attend the tours are welcome to join this conversation to share how they are adjusting to the District 96 culture.

Coffee and other refreshments will be served.

For planning purposes, RSVP by December 13 at https://forms.gle/Kn5SkyzZFbHgtyCn7.

This is an event only for parents and guardians.
