Country Meadows Principal's Message - Friday, December 8, 2023

Dear Country Meadows Families,

I hope this message finds you well. I want to take a moment to commend our students for their hard work and dedication during the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Assessment this week. It was inspiring to witness their commitment to academic excellence in both literacy and math.

The efforts put forth by each student are truly commendable, and we are proud of the progress they are making as the school year unfolds. The MAP Assessment provides valuable insights into individual growth, and it's heartening to see our students thriving in various areas.

As we move forward, I would like to remind you to ensure that your child is adequately prepared for the upcoming winter weather. It is crucial that they have appropriate clothing to stay warm and comfortable during recess. Please check that they have jackets, hats, gloves, and any other necessary winter gear to make their outdoor time enjoyable and safe.

Thank you for your support and partnership in your child's education. We will continue to partner to create a positive and conducive learning environment for all our students.

Kindly,

Aska Lempke

Upcoming Dates:

  • Tuesday, December 19 - Early Release Day

  • Tuesday, December 19 - Newcomer Coffee & Conversation, 7 p.m. (Ivy Hall Elementary School)

NEW *MAP Assessment Update*

This is a follow up to the message sent on Wednesday, 12/6, concerning the technology issues that impacted the administration of Kindergarten/First Grade NWEA MAP testing for some students. We are rescheduling that MAP assessment for those students who did not finish. The retest day is Tuesday, 12/12. Students who completed the assessment for will not test on that day.

REPEAT *Recess During the Winter*

For students to play in the snow, they must have snow pants, boots, gloves, and a jacket.  This applies to both the field and the playground area. This ensures that their clothes, hands, and feet are dry for lunch and the remainder of the afternoon.  Students who do not have snow pants and boots can still play on the blacktop area.

REPEAT *Newcomer Coffee and Conversation*

District 96 hosts a Newcomer Coffee & Conversation for parents and guardians of newly registered students, to give them an opportunity to ask questions and share information about their transition.

This year’s Coffee starts at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, at Ivy Hall Elementary School (Mat Room), 1072 Ivy Hall Lane, Buffalo Grove.

It is an informal opportunity for these new parents and guardians to ask questions and share their thoughts ~ with other parents and staff ~ about their experiences in the district. These parents might be experiencing the District’s social customs and teaching practices for the first time, just as their students have, and can glean from the experiences of others.

New parents/guardians who missed the New Family Tours in August are encouraged to attend this conversation.  Those who did attend the tours are welcome to join this conversation to share how they are adjusting to the District 96 culture.

This is an event only for parents and guardians.

Coffee and other refreshments will be served.

For planning purposes, please RSVP by December 13:  https://forms.gle/Kn5SkyzZFbHgtyCn7.
