Country Meadows Principal's Message - May 26, 2023

Country Meadows Principal's Message - May 26, 2023

What a wonderful week we have had at Country Meadows! Our future 1st graders from Willow Grove visited our school and had an excellent visit and tour!  Our 3rd graders hosted a Wax Museum. All students participated in Field Day and enjoyed lunch together outside.  Country Meadows PTO out did themselves with the End of the Year Party.  The weather was perfect for gathering outside and playing with friends.  Thank you to our parent and PTO volunteers who make these end of the year activities possible!  All of these wonderful activities in addition to our COURTESY CUB countdown are helping students and staff end the school year on a positive note.

As our year comes to a close, we say our "see you laters" to Cheryl Kelly and Frankie Gonzalez.  Mrs. Kelly started in District 96 as a parent and hasn't left since joining the front office staff.  Mrs. Kelly beautifully juggles all the happenings in the front office while making familes and students feel welcome and supported.  Mr. Frankie knows it all!  He is always a walkie call away and willing to do anything (and everything) around Country Meadows.  We love hearing him push our dual language and biliterate students to leverage their bilingual superpower.  Both Mrs. Kelly and Mr. Frankie care deeply about each and every child in this school.  Please welcome me in wishing Mrs. Kelly and Mr. Frankie the very best in their next chapter.

Repeat *2023 Elementary School Principal's Message - Summer Reading*

This summer, we want students to experience the pure joy of reading. Since the purpose of summer reading is to help foster a love of reading, we strongly feel that students should read a book that is of high interest to them and close to the difficulty level of text they would encounter during the school year.

To support our elementary students in continuing to read over the summer, each grade level has a recommended reading list, as well as optional reading lessons that can be completed independently by students. Both the lists and the summer reading lessons can be found on our district website.

Repeat *Technology Update*

Aside from a few exceptions (defined below) all students will KEEP their District 96 technology (iPad, iPad Case, Charging Cable, Charging Brick, and Logitech Crayon) over the summer and will be expected to return with it at the beginning of the 23-24 school year. It will be the student’s responsibility to come to school next year with all of their technology items. Should parents have technology-related questions over the summer, they can get a hold of us at [email protected]

Exceptions:

  • All EC student iPads at Willow Grove will be collected at the end of the school year. We will redeploy class sets at the start of the 23-24 school year.
  • All 8th-grade student iPads will be collected on the morning of Wednesday, May 24th at both middle schools.
  • Any student who is confirmed not returning to District 96 for the 23-24 school year will need to turn in their technology items on the last day of school.
  • Any student who unenrolls from District 96 (during the school year or during the summer) is required to turn in their technology items as soon as possible after they confirm unenrollment, even if families indicate they are planning to return at a later date, District 96 technology items should be collected.
