Country Meadows Principal's Message - November 18, 2022

Country Meadows Principal's Message - November 18, 2022

Our Family Reading Night was a wonderful opportunity to see families and enjoy books together!  Families were able to pick 2 sessions to attend while stopping in at the book fair.  We love seeing our students excited about reading and selecting books to take home.  Thank you to all who volunteered and made the event so successful!  We look forward to what Mrs. Lockhart plans for next year.

Thank you to our Book Fair Committee for running the book fair.  The fall theme was Books Bring Us Together.  Each student was asked to wrtie down their favorite book and tie it to a book nook.  Our collaboratively created book nook will now live in the Country Meadows learning center.

As we head into the Thanksgiving break, I want to thank the Country Meadows community for being so welcoming.  I appreciate all of your support and feel so fortunate to work with the students and families of Country Meadows.   We are a team and could not do this work without each other.

Given our shorter week next week, there will not be a Principal’s Message sent out, but we will resume the scheduled messages on December 2nd.  I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Kindly,

Michelle Garlick

NEW *MAP TESTING*

All students in grades K-8 will be participating in NWEA MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) assessment. The MAP assessment is a normed referenced, computerized adaptive test that helps teachers, parents, and administrators improve learning for all students and make informed decisions to promote a child's academic growth.  Like in previous years, all students will be taking the MAP test in reading and math during the school day. Testing will take place on December 5th and December 6th.

NEW *RECESS DURING THE WINTER*

For student to play in the snow, they must have snow pants, boots, gloves and jacket.  This applies to both the field and the playground area. This ensures that their clothes, hands and feet are dry for lunch and the remainder of the afternoon.  Students who do not have snow pants and boots can still play on the blacktop area.

Repeating *Permanent Parent Pick Up*

If you pick up your child at the end of each day, your child(ren) will be coming home with a rearview mirror tag with a specific number on it. This number is assigned to your family. Please have this on your rearview mirror when you are picking up your child(ren) each day. Once staff and students are out there, we will call out car numbers so students are ready and waiting for you when you pull all the way up. This also elevates the staff asking you to roll down your window to ask who you're picking up. Every few weeks, the CM staff switch between different dismissal duties. The staff that is helping out during parent pick-up are not classroom teachers, therefore, may not know students and who their pick up person is. Hopefully, the numbers make it a little easier for students and staff to keep parent pick-up running smoothly. If your child gets pick-up by a different parent or caregiver and you would like two rearview mirror tags, please email Kristen Vargas, [email protected] and she will make another family tag for you. This is not for students who get picked up once in a while or only on Fridays. This is only for permanent parent pick-ups. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks for your help with making parent pick-up run more smoothly.
