Country Meadows Principal's Message - November 11, 2022

Country Meadows Principal's Message - November 11, 2022

Happy Veterans Day to all and to those who have served our country, thank you for your service!

Mrs. Shaver and I had the joy of celebrating outside with our monthly PAWS winners from each grade-level.  With the beautiful weather, this was the perfect student choosen reward!  Mrs. Shaver found her hidden talent at four square and students showed off their climbing talent on the playground.  Students can receive individual and golden class PAWS to contribute to their class total each month.

Our Scholastic Book Fair is ready to open it's doors to students on Monday.  During the week, classes will visit the book fair twice - one time to preview the books and one time to purchase books.  On Thursday, Country Meadows will host Family Reading Night to encourage families to spend time reading together.  Before Family Reading Night and during, families can stop by the Country Meadows library to visit the book fair together!  Please see the Book Fair Spirit Week flyer below!

Kindly,

Michelle Garlick

NEW * Lost & Found*

Our lost & found is bursting at the seams!  Over the next week, we will encourage students to look and take any of their lost items.  Families can look at the lost & found during Family Reading Night on Thursday.  Items not taken by the end of next week will be donated.

Repeating *Permanent Parent Pick Up*

If you pick up your child at the end of each day, your child(ren) will be coming home with a rearview mirror tag with a specific number on it. This number is assigned to your family. Please have this on your rearview mirror when you are picking up your child(ren) each day. Once staff and students are out there, we will call out car numbers so students are ready and waiting for you when you pull all the way up. This also elevates the staff asking you to roll down your window to ask who you're picking up. Every few weeks, the CM staff switch between different dismissal duties. The staff that is helping out during parent pick-up are not classroom teachers, therefore, may not know students and who their pick up person is. Hopefully, the numbers make it a little easier for students and staff to keep parent pick-up running smoothly. If your child gets pick-up by a different parent or caregiver and you would like two rearview mirror tags, please email Kristen Vargas, [email protected] and she will make another family tag for you. This is not for students who get picked up once in a while or only on Fridays. This is only for permanent parent pick-ups. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks for your help with making parent pick-up run more smoothly.

Repeating * Family Reading Night*

Our annual Family Reading Night takes place on Thursday, November 17 from 6:00pm-7:00pm.  We shifted our start time to 6:00pm to accommodate families with Woodlawn band students.

Our goal is to provide families with a fun night out where you can experience two different rounds of literacy-related activities. While walk-ins are welcome, please kindly THIS Google Form to RSVP if you would like to attend, as it will help us plan the evening activities. We look forward to seeing you at the event!

During the week of November 14th, the Scholastic Book Fair will be in the library.  Classes will be visitng throughout the week to see what is available and purchase items.  The book fair will also be open during Family Reading Night!
