Country Meadows Principal's Message - Nov. 19th

Country Meadows Principal's Message - Nov. 19th

Country Meadows Families,

It was so wonderful to see so many families enjoying our Family Reading Night last night!  We are also so grateful that our PTO sponsored an amazing Scholastic Book Fair for our school community this week. Students were eager to purchase new books and visit the Book Fair with their families, and it was definitely the highlight of the week for many!  Thank you to all who volunteered and made the event so successful!  This afternoon families should have received access to student Trimester 1 report cards (please see below for an explanation on how to interpret our D96 report card).  Given our shorter week next week, there will not be a Principal’s Message sent out, but we will resume the scheduled messages on December 3rd.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Kindly,

Meghan Bird - Principal

NEW *Report Cards*

Families should have received access to student report cards at 3:00pm this afternoon.

Listen to a brief explanation of our standards-based reporting system

NEW *NWEA MAP Testing*

All students in grades K-8 will be participating in NWEA MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) assessment. The MAP assessment is a normed referenced, computerized adaptive test that helps teachers, parents, and administrators improve learning for all students and make informed decisions to promote a child's academic growth.  Like in previous years, all students will be taking the MAP test in reading and math during the school day. Testing will take place on Monday, December 6th and Tuesday, December 7th.

Students who are quarantined during those testing days will take the MAP assessment after they return to school.

NEW *Calendar Reminders*

  • This is a friendly reminder that next week Monday (11/22) and Tuesday (11/23) we will operate on our normal school schedule.  Students will not be in attendance on Wednesday-Friday next week (11/24-11/26).
  • Tuesday, November 30th is an Early Release for students.  Students will be dismissed at 2:00pm.

NEW *Holiday Card Contest (4th/5th Grade)*

Calling all 4th/5th Graders! How would you like to see your artwork gracing the cover of Congressman Brad Schneider’s annual Holiday Card?

The Congressman is again hosting his annual holiday greeting card competition for all fourth and fifth graders in the 10th Congressional District.  The theme this year: “Time Together.”

There are no size restrictions (the winning artwork will be scaled to fit the card cover).  Entries are due by Wednesday, Nov. 24.  The winner will be announced in early December.

Submit entries to Robert Perez at [email protected].

Please contact Mr. Perez with any questions at 847-302-4920.

NEW *Golden Paws*

This year we have introduced the exciting GOLDEN PAW.  Golden paws are earned when an entire class is seen exhibiting PRO (People Respecting Others) behavior that is respectful, responsible, or peaceful.  For example, a class may earn a Golden Paw for being respectful to a substitute the day a teacher is absent, listening and adhering to lunch room expectations, or walking quietly/peacefully in the hallways.

This weeks Golden Paws winners include:

  • Cannistra (3rd Grade)

Keep up the great work, Country Meadows PROs!
