Country Meadows Principal's Message - October 30th

Country Meadows Principal's Message - October 30th

Country Meadows Families,

It was so enjoyable to take some time today to celebrate Halloween/Fall fun with students, and although different from our typical celebrations, staff and students still found time to enjoy this time together.  As we enter the month of November along with the final weeks of our first trimester, we are excited for all of the learning and fun that awaits!

We hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend!  Please see below for upcoming calendar reminders.

Fondly,

Meghan Bird - Principal

NEW *Newcomer Invitation - November 12th*

Has your family recently moved to the United States, or are you and your student(s) new to our area/school community?

On Monday, November 16th at 10AM, any parents that are new to our area /school community and have students who attend Country Meadows are invited to a casual virtual conversation.

This is an opportunity for parents to meet some D96/Country Meadows staff, ask questions, share their thoughts, and also meet D96 parents that may have similar experiences or have been in the district for a long time.

This is an informal opportunity for parents who, like their students, are experiencing our D96 social customs and practices of teaching and learning for the first time.

NEW *Calendar Updates & Daylight Savings Reminder*

During the week of November 2nd, please know that D96 schools and offices may be operating remotely.

There will also be no school held on Monday, November 2nd or Tuesday, November 3rd.  Students will return for remote instruction on Wednesday, November 4th.

As a friendly reminder, we change our clocks back at 2:00am on Sunday, November 1st.

NEW *Student Lunch Opportunity*

The staff at Country Meadows is eager to provide students with opportunities for social time with grade level peers.  Given our new hybrid schedule, and the current reality that we are operating remotely, students do not have a designated time to talk with their grade level peers as they would have in a typical school year.

In an effort to address this important part of our students' lives, we are excited to announce that beginning November 4th, students will have the opportunity to eat lunch (remotely) with some of their grade level peers.  Classroom teachers will be providing students with specific details on how they can access this opportunity should they choose to do so.  It will also be explained in our morning announcements, Wednesday, November 4th.

Please know that participating in this opportunity is not required.  We simply wanted to offer the opportunity as we know many students are craving any sort of peer interaction!

NEW *Meals Are Available for Drive-Up Pick-Up

Any KCSD96 family choosing to do so may pick up free breakfasts/lunches for their students weekdays from 11AM-1PM when District 96 students are in session.  SEE DETAILS

REPEATING *Updated COVID-19 Metrics*

This UPDATED COVID-19 METRICS is the information “dashboard” that maintains transparent and open communication around COVID-19 metrics. As a user of the dashboard, the District has access to COVID-19 data as recommended by the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Northern Illinois Public Health Consortium. We review this data daily, update the dashboard weekly, and consider this data in making many decisions.

REPEATING *Family Tradition Survey*

Last year, families filled out a form to share their family traditions with us. We shared those traditions in a daily slideshow for students and the kids absolutely loved reading about themselves and other students in the school. We would love for you to participate again this year!

Fead more about how you can share your family traditions this year. It will show you a QR code you can scan to participate.
