It's hard to believe that half of February is already behind us! Where did the time go? We had a busy week at Country Meadows and there was lots of fun and learning taking place. Students had a chance to enjoy a PTO sponsored Cultural Arts assembly (see below for details), we enjoyed a Cub Community buddy classroom activity identifying ways to be responsible, and our Valentine's Day parties were a great way to end the week! Thank you to all of the PTO parents who made the Valentine's Day parties so much fun for our students! We are so appreciative of your hard work and planning!

NEW *Spring Collaborative Conference Information*
Spring Conferences are coming on Thursday, March 12th from 5pm-8:30pm and Friday, March 13th from 10am-1:30pm . The Sign-Up Genius will be sent to you on Tuesday, February 18th. Please be on the lookout for it on Tuesday!
Spring Conferences are Collaborative Conferences!
Collaborative conferences means that your child will be leading the conference. The purpose of collaborative conferences is for educators, students and families to discuss, reflect and celebrate student work, and for families to experience school through their child's eyes. Students have been working hard to prepare for the conference, and we are excited for you to learn about your child’s progress directly from your child!
Teachers will be available in the room as guides and will be available to answer student questions or elaborate on a point a student is making, but we ask that all participants respect that this is the student’s opportunity to lead the conference by sharing progress and reflections about their own learning.
Please read below to learn specific information about how collaborative conferences will be structured at the elementary level.
Grades EC-1st Grade
Families will sign-up for a 15 minute conference. One student/family partnership will be in the room at a time. The conference will begin with your child presenting his/her current progress, reflections, celebrations and areas for continued growth. The classroom teacher will be at the table with the student, but the student will lead the conference. Teachers will be available to facilitate and assist in answering specific questions.
Grades 2nd-5th Grade
Families will sign-up for a 30 minute conference. Three family/student partnerships may be in the room at one time. Student/Family partnerships will sit in a private space to engage in the conference. The conference will begin with your child presenting his/her current progress, reflections, celebrations and areas for continued growth. Teachers will be available to facilitate and can answer brief questions at the conclusion of the student portion.

NEW *Cultural Arts Assembly - "Uniquely Me"*
This week students had a chance to attend another PTO sponsored Cultural Arts assembly titled, "Uniquely Me". The assembly connected directly to Black History Month, and students learned all about African American inventors who have made a powerful impact. Students were taught that there is no one like them, and that they should be proud of who they are as individuals. We loved the message, and we are so grateful that our PTO continues to bring cultural awareness to our Country Meadows community.

REPEATING *Reporting Absences*
Cold and flu season is upon us, and I wanted to provide a friendly reminder to report your child absent if he or she will not be at school. You can call the morning of the absence and leave a voicemail if our office staff is using the other line. If you choose to use email to communicate the absence, please make sure to email both Deb Stanton and Cheryl Kelly. This will ensure that the office is aware of the absence should one of our office staff members be out.
REPEATING *KCSD96 Offers a Dual Language Opportunity*
Parents are invited to consider the Dual Language Program for their incoming Willow Grove kindergartner. The program’s purpose is to give children the opportunity to develop a deep academic proficiency in two languages. Fifty percent of the academic day instruction is delivered in Spanish and 50 percent in English. Following their kindergarten year at Willow Grove, Dual Language participants continue at Country Meadows for Grades 1–5 and transition to Woodlawn for Grades 6–8.
To be included in the public lottery that will be used to select the 2020–21 Dual Language kindergarten class, an Interest Form (ENGLISH or SPANISH) is due to the Willow Grove Early Learning Center office by 3 p.m. on Mar. 18.

¡No puedo creer que ya estamos en la mitad del mes de febrero! ¿En qué momento se fue? Tuvimos una semana ocupada en Country Meadows y nos divertimos y aprendimos mucho. ¡Los estudiantes disfrutaron de una asamblea de Artes Culturales organizada por el PTO (abajo podrá ver los detalles), disfrutamos de una actividad en el salón de clase identificando formas de ser responsable, y nuestras fiestas de San Valentín fueron una forma increíble de finalizar la semana! ¡Gracias a todos los padres del PTO que hicieron que las fiestas de San Valentín fueran tan divertidas para nuestros estudiantes! ¡Agradecemos mucho su arduo trabajo y la organización!

¡Las Conferencias de Primavera son Conferencias Colaborativas!
Una Conferencia Colaborativa quiere decir que su hijo guiará la conferencia. El propósito de una conferencia colaborativa es para que los educadores, estudiantes y familias hablen, reflexionen y celebren el trabajo del estudiante, y para que las familias vivan la experiencia escolar a través de los ojos de su hijo. ¡Los estudiantes han trabajado arduamente en la preparación de estas conferencias y estamos emocionados de que usted aprenda sobre el progreso de su hijo directamente de de su hijo!
Los maestros estarán disponibles en los salones como guías para responder a las preguntas de los estudiantes o para detallar cualquier punto que el estudiante esté tratando de hacer, pero pedimos que todos los participantes muestren respeto ya que esta es la oportunidad para que el estudiante guíe la conferencia, compartiendo el progreso y las reflexiones sobre su propio aprendizaje.

Pre-escolar -1 er Grado
Las familias se anotarán para una conferencia de 15 minutos. En el salón habrá una conferencia con un estudiante/familia a la vez. Su hijo iniciará la conferencia con una presentación de su progreso actual, sus reflexiones, celebraciones y áreas de crecimiento. El maestro del salón estará junto con el estudiante, pero el estudiante será el que guiará la conferencia. Los maestros estarán disponibles para facilitar y asistir en responder cualquier pregunta específica.
2º - 5º Grado
Las familias se anotarán para una conferencia de 30 minutos. Habrá hasta tres conferencias con tres estudiantes/familias a la vez. Las familias que participen en la conferencia tendrán un lugar privado donde podrán sentarse. Su hijo iniciará la conferencia con una presentación de su progreso actual, sus reflexiones, celebraciones y áreas de crecimiento. Los maestros estarán disponibles para facilitar y responder a cualquier pregunta al final de la presentación del estudiante.

NUEVO *Asamblea de Artes Culturales - "Excepcionalmente Yo"*
Esta semana los estudiantes tuvieron la oportunidad de asistir a otra asamblea de Artes Culturales organizado por el PTO, llamado "Excepcionalmente Yo". La asamblea se relaciona directamente al mes de la Historia Afroamericana, y los estudiantes aprendieron mucho sobre los inventores Afroamericanos que han tenido una gran influencia. Los estudiantes aprendieron que no hay nadie como ellos, y que deben estar orgullosos de cómo son. Nos encantó el mensaje, y estamos agradecidos de que nuestro PTO sigue informando a nuestra comunidad de Country Meadows sobre la cultura.

REITERACIÓN *Reportando la Ausencias*
Ha llegado la época de resfriados, y quiero recordar a las familias que deben reportar la ausencia de su estudiante si no va a asistir a la escuela. Usted puede llamar en la mañana para reportar la ausencia y puede dejar un mensaje en caso de que la secretaria está ocupada con otra llamada. Si desea enviar un correo electrónico para reportar la ausencia, por favor de enviarlo tanto a Deb Stanton como a Cheryl Kelly. Así podemos asegurar que la oficina sabe de la ausencia en caso de que algún miembro de la oficina esté ausente.
REITERACIÓN *KCSD96 Ofrece Una Oportunidad de Lenguaje Dual*
Invitamos a los padres a que consideren el Programa de Lenguaje Dual para los estudiantes que entrarán al kindergarten de Willow Grove. El propósito de este programa es darle la oportunidad a los niños para que desarrollen una capacidad académica profunda en dos idiomas. Cincuenta por ciento de la enseñanza académica se implementará en Español y 50 por ciento en Inglés. Después de kindergarten en Willow Grove, los participantes continuarán en en Programa de Lenguaje Dual en Country Meadows para los grados 2–5 y pasarán a Woodlawn para los grados 6–8.
Para poder ser incluido en la lotería pública que se usará para seleccionar la clase de kindergarten de Lenguaje Dual del año escolar 2020–21, debe completar el Formulario de Interés y entregarlo en la oficina de Willow Grove Early Learning Center para el 18 de marzo a las 3 p.m.
