Country Meadows families,
This week has flown by, and it has been quite an exciting one. As you are aware, we did lose power on Monday but learning continued as normal. We even had a VERY exciting PTO sponsored cultural arts assembly during our power outage that we are incredibly thankful for! Next week our students will be taking the winter NWEA MAP assessments, and we are excited to celebrate all of their growth! See below for more details on our assessment schedule for next week.
NEW *Winter MAP Testing*
Next week, students will be taking the Winter NWEA MAP assessment. All students will be testing at the same times. The NWEA Reading MAP assessment will be taken on Monday, 12/9, and the NWEA Math MAP assessment will be taken on Wednesday, 12/11.
NEW *Early Release on Tuesday, 12/10*
This is a friendly reminder that next Tuesday, 12/10, is an Early Release. Students will be dismissed at 2:00. Please plan to pick your children up at this time.
NEW *Board Game Club (2nd & 4th Graders)*
Calling all 2nd and 4th graders! Registration for Board Game Club is now open. Board Game Club will take place on Thursdays after school from 3 - 4 pm. The club will run from early January to mid March. Please read a description of the club below.
Do you love playing games? Do you enjoy helping others learn new things? Then this club is for you! We will begin by pairing up students to learn and play together, and a variety of board and card games will be provided for you to play with. One goal of this club is to help create a community of friends at Country Meadows. Students will be learning teamwork and collaboration through tabletop games. They will develop their ability to identify problems, solve problems, premeditate actions, define new vocabulary, assist other players, and teach new rules all within a single hour!
NEW *SMART Watches & Other Distractions*
SMART watches are starting to show up here at the elementary schools. Many SMART watches have similar capabilities to SMART phones (game, voice, and text capabilities). If a SMART watch becomes a distraction, it may be confiscated and stored in the office to remove the distraction from the learning environment. Essentially, we will treat the SMART watches like a cell phone. Confiscated equipment may be picked up in the office at the end of the day by the student(s). If a pattern of distraction occurs, parents may be asked to pick up the technology.

REPEATING *2020-2021 Calendar Change Notification*
2020–2021 Calendar Change Notification
District 96 has made revisions to the published Quick List calendar for the upcoming 2020–2021 school year.
The revisions made accommodate the alignment of the District 96 Spring Break 2021 with the recently published Stevenson students’ Spring Break 2021.

Esta semana voló, y ha sido muy emocionante. Como quizás ya sabe, nos quedamos sin electricidad el lunes pero el aprendizaje continuó. ¡Hasta tuvimos una asamblea de artes culturales MUY emocionante mientras se fue la electricidad de la cual estamos muy agradecidos! ¡La próxima semana los estudiantes estarán tomando las pruebas de NWEA MAP, y estamos emocionados de celebrar todo su crecimiento! NUEVO *Pruebas MAP de Invierno Winter*
La próxima semana, los estudiantes estarán tomando las pruebas de Invierno de NWEA MAP. Todos los estudiantes estarán tomando las pruebas al mismo tiempo. La prueba de NWEA MAP de lectura será el lunes, 9 de diciembre, y la prueba de NWEA MAP de matemáticas será el miércoles 11 de diciembre.
NUEVO *Salida Temprana el martes, 12/10*
Quiero recordarles que el próximos martes 10 de diciembre habrá salida temprana. Los estudiantes salen a las 2:00. Por favor planee recoger a su hijo a esta hora.
NUEVO *Club de Juegos de Mesa (2º y 4º Grado)*
¡Llamando a todos los estudiantes de 2º y 4º grado! La inscripción para el Club de Juegos de Mesa está abierta. Este Club será los jueves después de clases de 3 - 4 pm. El club se llevará a cabo de enero hasta mediados de marzo. Por favor lea la descripción del club abajo.
¿Te gustan los juegos? ¿Te gusta ayudar a los demás para que aprendan? ¡Entonces este es el club para tí! Empezaremos por unir a nuestros estudiantes por parejas para que aprendan y jueguen juntos, habrá una variedad de juegos de mesa para tí. Una meta de este club es ayudar a crear una comunidad de amigos en Country Meadows. Los estudiantes estarán aprendiendo a trabajar en equipo y a colaborar. ¡Ellos podrán desarrollar su habilidad para identificar problemas, solucionar problemas, premeditar acciones, definir nuevo vocabulario, asistir a los demás jugadores, y enseñar reglas nuevas en sólo una hora!
NUEVO *Relojes INTELIGENTES y Otras Distracciones*
Los relojes INTELIGENTES han hecho su aparición aquí en la escuela. Muchos relojes INTELIGENTES tienen capacidades similares a las de un teléfono INTELIGENTE (juegos, voz, y capacidades de texto). Si un reloj INTELIGENTE empieza a ser una distracción, puede ser confiscado y colocado en la oficina para remover la distracción del ambiente de aprendizaje. Prácticamente, trataremos a los relojes INTELIGENTES como si fueran teléfonos celulares. Cualquier equipo confiscado podrá ser recogido en la oficina al final del día por el estudiante. Si ocurre un patrón de distracciones, se les pedirá a los padres recoger estos dispositivos.

REITERACIÓN *Notificación del Cambio en el Calendario 2020–2021*
El Distrito 96 ha hecho cambios al calendario que se publicó en Quick List del próximo año escolar 2020–2021.
Los cambios realizados se acomodan a las Vacaciones de Primavera 2021 del Distrito 96 con la reciente publicación de las Vacaciones de Primavera 2021 de los estudiantes de Stevenson.
