Country Meadows Principal's Message - October 25th

Country Meadows families,

It is so great to officially be back from maternity leave!  I am so grateful for the time I was able to spend at home snuggling Miss Maisie James, but I have missed our Country Meadows family so much!  It was SO nice to come back to such a warm welcome from students, staff, and families! I want to give a public "thank you" to our assistant principal Mike Senatore & Woodlawn assistant Princial Michelle Garlick for doing an incredible job making sure everything ran smoothly the past twelve weeks.  A special thank you to Mr. Senatore who made sure the Principal's Message continued in my absence.  I am so grateful for their support and leadership.

Our students and staff have truly impressed me with all they have accomplished so far this school year.  I throughly enjoyed visiting each classroom this week to see learning in action!  We are off to a great start, and I know even greater things await our students.

A lot of you have asked to see pictures of Maisie so I am including a few below.  I am so excited to be back, and I look forward to seeing you all at our PTO Carnival Night tonight!  If your family is new to the CM family, I look forward to meeting you!

Take a moment to read the BLOG this week!

NEW *More Halloween Information*

Please know that there will be no Country Meadows Clubs after school on Thursday, October 31st. Also, if you would prefer that your child not participate in the Halloween parade or party, please contact your child's teacher so that alternative activities can be provided.

REPEATING *Halloween Information*

Stores are full of Halloween costumes, and I'm sure that your child is excitedly looking forward to getting a Halloween costume together for this year's festivities.  When selecting or creating a costume with your child to wear at school, please be sure that the following expectations are followed:

-Must be appropriate for school

-No masks, blood, super scary stuff, or weapons

-No cigars or cigarette items

-No bare tummies

-Please keep hair coloring and make-up simple

**If you are unsure about a costume or costume prop, please contact your child's classroom teacher.  Students whose costumes do not meet these expectations will be asked to adjust their costume for the school festivities.**

On October 31st, all students will have the opportunity to participate in a parade outdoors at 1:30 pm (dependent upon the weather) as well as the classroom party. Please see some reminders below:

  • The parade may be viewed by families outdoors. If it rains, it will be indoors for students and staff only.

  • The Halloween party is by invitation only from the PTO. At this point, you should know if you are a volunteer (if so, please no extra siblings)!

Thank you for your help with this and we look forward to the creativity from our students this day!

REPEATING *1st/2nd Author Visit*

Yangsook Choi grew up in Korea. She started drawing at age 4 and loved telling her grandma scary stories. After moving to New York to pursue her art, she has written and illustrated many books for young readers including, The Name Jar and New Cat.

We are fortunate to have her visit our school in November. She will be seeing all first and second grade students. If you are interested in an autographed copy of her books, please fill out this form and return to school by October 28th.  (Our older students will have their author visit later in the year).

Fondly,

Mrs. Meghan Bird, Principal
